State of the Midterms: Republicans see glimmer of hope in Florida contests, as NJ heats up
Fox News ^ | 27 October 2018 | Judson Berger

Republicans are starting to see a ray of sunshine in Florida, despite indications that the GOP nominees in the state’s marquee Senate and gubernatorial contests are struggling.

In the race for governor, Trump-aligned Ron DeSantis has been trailing Democrat Andrew Gillum in virtually every poll since the summer. But a survey conducted for Gray Television by Strategic Research Associates showed DeSantis ahead by 3 points, 48-45 percent. This is within the 3.46 point margin of error – but comes as another state poll puts Gillum ahead by just 1 point, reflecting, at the least, a horse race.

On the Senate side, recent polls also have shown the race tightening between outgoing Republican Gov. Rick Scott and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson, after the incumbent led in a spree of earlier surveys.

The Real Clear Politics polling average still shows Democrats ahead by a few points in both races – but it’s an edge the president may be actively working to eliminate.

Politico reports that the White House fears a "wipeout" and is now plotting a “rescue mission” for the GOP candidates, with plans for President Trump to visit Florida at least twice and discussions of a possible presidential robo-call.

The report reflects an obvious concern for the president specific to the governor’s race: Trump wants to keep Tallahassee in Republican hands, so an incumbent ally can help his efforts to win the critical swing state in 2020.

The Fox primetime lineup of commentary shows (Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham) are all quite good. But their "news" programs focus on the same DNC talking points as CNN and all the other leftist propaganda outlets. What's more, Fox political polls lean notoriously left. I guess it's their way of "reaching across the aisle" to show the Leftists they mean them no harm. It is so sickening, I never watch Fox "News" anymore.

Instead, I watch OANN on DirecTV channel 347. They report the news without a leftist bias. It is so refreshing to watch an OAN news segment without being attacked by yet another Dem party talking point.

Fox announced it was shifting left in 2016 since they calculated
Hillary winning and the Murduch sons took over and canned
O’Reilly and a few other Pro Gop talking heads .

Agree. Folks who post and defend FOX easily forget the small reach of this outfit. Hannity after 25 years is the leader and a good night is three million viewers- less than .05 of the country.

I rarely watch any of it, but I’m glad we have it. Darrian SHAW the pollster is a well documented Fraud. He had Moore losing by 10% days before election. I don’t need the advice of any of these people and tuning out all of it for months at a time shows how completely irrelevant it is.

I haven’t watched Baier or Wallace since first primary debate. I could care less what they think.

“When Fox fired O’Reilly and then let Breit, Megan , .. plotted to ambush Trump during the debates.”

O’Reilly dug his own grave. Who’s in his slot now? I don’t remember what time BOP was on but at 8 pm you have Tucker and at 9 pm you have Hannity. Both are definitely more conservative than BOR who wasn’t a conservative anyway: he was a self-proclaimed populist.

You’re right about the debates. They tried to sabotage Trump, but Trump was too smart for them.

McCallum is likely a lib, but isn’t that obvious about it. But she’s not in BOR’s slot. 7-8 pm is not even considered prime-time.

You may be right about Fox leadership wanting to take Trump down, but I’m not convinced is was anyone more than Bret/Megan. Aren’t you happy they dumped Kelly?

I cut cable (save $100/month) right after election in 2016 because all I heard (including most of Fox) was how horrible Trump is (and his voters by association). Why am I paying these people to tell me how deplorable I am (including most of Fox airtime). I am going to miss cutting cable come election night but I will find a work around :)

NewsCorp polls are absolute f'kn garbage. Demonstrably so.

They (and others on the bullshit "RCP" average) will discredit themselves even further this election - and then simply won't be able to resist the temptation 2020.
