FBI agent says bureau leaked stories, then used them to get FISA warrants

A top FBI special agent admitted to House committees last week that bureau officials were known to leak information to the press and then use the resulting articles to help obtain surveillance warrants.

Special Agent Jonathan Moffa, who worked with controversial former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, testified last Friday behind closed doors

A source with knowledge of his testimony confirmed to Fox News that Moffa said FBI personnel would use media reports based on information they leaked to justify applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants.

The source told Fox News that Moffa acknowledged this “had been a practice in the past.”

Republicans have long questioned to what extent leaked information, related to the unverified anti-Trump dossier, was used as a basis for surveillance warrants against former Trump adviser Carter Page in 2016 -- when the bureau was led by James Comey and deputy Andrew McCabe.

The source told Fox News that Moffa did not specifically confirm the practice of using leaked information to bolster warrant applications was employed with regard to the dossier.

But, when pressed by the committees on whether this was common practice at the FBI, Moffa acknowledged the FBI had at least engaged in this activity in other cases.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., told Fox News on Tuesday that the committee had evidence of the FBI’s practice that would be “hard to refute.”

“We know that some people at the Department of Justice and the FBI actually gave information to the media, then the stories were reported. Then they used those reports to justify further investigations,” Meadows said on “America’s Newsroom” Tuesday. “You know, that’s like saying, we’re going to incriminate on one hand, and be the jury on the other. It just doesn’t work that way.”

This was an insurrection. They attempted to use the force of government to overthrow the 2016 federal elections.

People need to be executed for this!

The President needs to appoint a special prosecutor himself, one who reports directly to him.

What other cases? There should be a roster or something of who had FISA warrants issued on them. Public information after the fact.

President Trump just needs to bypass Sessions and start his own investigation. A majority of voters would rally to him.

This is what the tabloids used to do. For example, they would call the state child protection services, report a celebrity for child abuse, and then wait until the state started an obligatory file/investigation. They would then use the states investigation as a ‘source’ for a story on that celebrity being investigated for child abuse.

Now the FBI is doing this? There has to be massive and deep housecleaning.

In other words, the Mueller/Comey FBI has been framing people for quite some time and the facts are starting to come out.

Who and why the framing was done to is going to be very interesting.

Trump has the information and he is obviously ahead of the curve on this so looking at his pardons may help shine some light on the situation

Scooter Libby comes to mind

ALL FISA judges were put in office by either the Fraud or the elder brother Coward Bush.

I believe a lot of the problem with the pursuit of this information is that many terrorists are in jail because of FISA warrants. Hopefully justifiably so, but the FISA warrants were central to a lot of anti-Terrorist court cases.

If we look into the FISA system we are likely to find many, many corrupted cases. The result may be that FISAs are rejected wholesale. Which means a lot of terrorists might be released from prison.

How do you expose the corrupt system while retaining any of the good work which may have been done under the corrupt system?

This is a very real problem.

Not much time left for “bit by bit.” It needs to hit the fan before October.

Even if the FBI hadn’t planted the stories, the fact that they use the newspapers a a source of info for a secret warrant is pathetic. That they use their own planted story amounts to the police planting evidence. It is criminal.
