Statement from the President (McCain)
WhiteHouse ^ | 8/27/2018 | WhiteHouse

Posted on 08/27/2018 2:12:52 PM PDT by grayboots

Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain’s service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment.

I have asked Vice President Mike Pence to offer an address at the ceremony honoring Senator McCain at the United States Capitol this Friday.

At the request of the McCain family, I have also authorized military transportation of Senator McCain’s remains from Arizona to Washington, D.C., military pallbearers and band support, and a horse and caisson transport during the service at the United States Naval Academy.

Finally, I have asked General John Kelly, Secretary James Mattis, and Ambassador John Bolton to represent my Administration at his services.

Looks good in my eyes. Shows me knows when the fight needs to continue and when you need to just let it go.

The fact the McCain family had to request a horse and buggy ride must have stung them to their toenails.

The truth will come out. It'll probably be before the ceremonies are complete, because it's so drawn out.

That proclamation from President Trump was entirely appropriate, even though I wish he could've stood by the regulations about the flag at the WH.

I honestly hope President Trump turns a corner and tones it down a little, in line with the combination of maturity and honesty of this statement.

I’m sure he asked Pence or Kelly to handle this and this is what comes out of it. A dumpster fire

McTurd is not worth pissing off the American Legion and all the rest of the panty wadders. Hopefully this at least preempts that cross country caravan BS.

Plant him and get on with it.

So now his enemies know how he can be manipulated into giving in.

I’m afraid this won’t be the last time something like this happens, and I’m afraid the stakes will be even higher.

Trump followed the protocol. He didn’t need to do anymore than that. Having flags half-staff for a Senator for this period is unheard of.

“When has he ever had Fox News support?”

He hasn’t save the handful there that voted for him. Hannity, Dobbs, one or two others.

My wife just asked me if any other senator or politician who wasn't a President had been awarded such treatment or national accolades. I can't recall any.

They had that nationally televised political rally for Wellstone when he checked out. That was strictly the Democratic Party and the MSM, donkeys all. It seems to me there were some prominent Republicans who had the decency to walk out of that classless display.

I can't remember if Hubert Humphrey was given such a send off. He may have been.

It's a shame McCain had to be such a worthless senator.

With luck his send off will be classy, an adjective he managed to shed with enthusiasm for the last 25 or 30 years, at least.

Its just going to be viewed as weakness and regarded spitefully and it will not help him with anyone at all.

Wrong move, its capitulation.

When will Trump learn you cannot please the MSM/Democrat/RINO combine? You know he will be dissed whatever he does. I won’t fly my flag at half staff for this man for his betrayal of conservative principles. I further despise this near pagan ritual of government worship that goes on whenever a prominent public figure dies. And I will not watch one moment of the ceremonies, which will be yet another excuse for 24-7 Trump bashing by the MSM (as if they needed one!).

Deep State and DNC are just milking McCain for all he’s worth. Then they’ll toss the dry husk aside. Well, he volunteered for this duty.

McInsane abandoned the people by casting the final vote NOT to repeal ObamaCare.

McInsane was a traitor to his country. He colluded with ISIS and on behalf of Obama financed them.

McInsane abandoned his wife who did not abandon him while he was in Vietnam.

McInsane was a criminal with the Keating 5, ripping off banks.

McInsane was a petty tyrant that treated people around him badly.

I could go on, but there is NOTHING to celebrate about that liberal jackass.

Was she a Senator?

She was a former First Lady, that is more deserving than some Senator who accomplished nothing of merit while in office.
