Read an interesting book about The Fall of Rome. In England, when the Romans didn't return, it only took about two generations for all cultural memory and necessary skill sets to maintain the civilization to all but disappear. Same thing in the Caribbean. We took a few vacations to Nassau in 1961-1963. Under British rule, it was a near paradise. Went there two years ago on a cruise. It's now a third world *ellhole.

Be prepared for the next round of TV ads asking for money to feed the millions of starving South Africans because of “crop failure” (ie. crops don’t raise themselves).
