What gotchas?
I asked you to prove the claims that I find to be completely contradictory to the Word of God and the Apostles.
Your reactions have been sounding angrier and angrier.
If Rome is as Apostolic as you claim, it should be easy to show that Rome and the Apostles are in perfect accord.
If you don’t want to reply, that’s your prerogative. But I’m not going to stop asking questions and demanding proof of assertions.
What irritates me is how a thread on absolutely any topic concerning the Catholic Church becomes a generic ecumenical brawl, if you know what I mean. None of that is directed personally to you.

It is easy: we and the Orthodox, which is our sister Church, are the only ones who read the Fathers of the Church and stick to the consensus on matters of theology reached by them. Specifically, on the history of confession, read: The Sacrament of Penance; scrioll down to, in particular, "Belief and practice of the early Church".
If you want a broader discussion about what Matthew 16:18 and similar verses mean, find an appropriate thread and flag me.
