Except for the fact that before Trent is was 100% acceptable for priests and scholars to question the canon, throw books out, and add books.
Try looking at what Luther’s contemporaries Erasmus and Cajetan were writing, with total approval of Rome.
Also, since there was no official canon before Trent, which came AFTER Luther, there can be no legitimate accusations of Luther throwing books out of the Bible since the RCC had not officially determined the canon.
Besides, if you look at Luther’s Bible, you’ll see that it DID contain the apocrypha.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_Bible
“The Luther Bible (German: Lutherbibel) is a German language Bible translation from Hebrew and ancient Greek by Martin Luther. The New Testament was first published in 1522 and the complete Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments and Apocrypha, in 1534.”
So the claim that Luther *threw out* books of the Bible that he *didn’t like* is a complete fabrication.
Catholics have been told this time and again here on the FR, but some just seem to steadfastly refuse to believe the facts presented to them. They’d rather hang onto the lies they were told than admit they were wrong and not have something with which to try to smear Luther.
It is acceptable now.
throw books out, and add books
Nothing was thrown in or out at Trent.
