Albino five-year-old girl is snatched in front of her mother and found decapitated after ritual murder for her 'magical' body parts in Mali
Armed men abducted Djeneba Diarra from her family home in Fana village, Mali
Her mother pursued kidnappers but turned back to protect second alblino child
Police launched a hunt and later found the five-year-old's decapitated body
Killing was feared to be part of a ritual murder for supposedly magic body parts
A five-year-old albino girl has been snatched and beheaded after a ritual murder for her body parts, which are deemed magical in Mali.
Armed men abducted Djeneba Diarra from her family's home in Fana village, 78 miles north of Mali's capital, Bamako, as the child.
Police said she was sleeping in the courtyard with her mother and her sister when kidnappers struck.
The girl's mother at first tried to pursue the kidnappers, who scaled a wall with her child, but then turned back to protect her second daughter, also an albino.
'We searched for the little girl everywhere. We found her body beside a mosque, but she had no head,' said a village teacher, Oumar Diakite.
Blaming a lack of security for the killing, angry local residents on Sunday partially burned down the paramilitary police headquarters in Fana, according to several witnesses.
'We demand justice. Her head was taken. This is a ritual crime,' activist Mamadou Sissoko told AFP after going to the scene.
Sissoko, the general secretary of the Federation of Associations of Persons with Albinism in West Africa (FAPAO), pointed out the link between crimes against albinos and political events, ahead of Mali's presidential election on July 29.

The fact that the body was found next to a Mosque should not necessarily be misconstrued as a link to Islam. I personally have never heard of Muslims involved in any ritual sacrifices of albinos.
All cultures are equal...
Just remember: All cultures are equal, and diversity is our strength.
How can this be in the oasis that is Africa? I thought all evil was concentrated in America and Israel? Tell me this isn’t so!!!
Note to self:
Never go to Mali with albino children.
Never go to Mali.
You posted the same exact thought at exactly the same time, even down to the second. Gotta be quick on the draw on FR.
Would Muslims hesitate to kidnap an infidel albino girl, in order to SELL her to people who WOULD want to perform a ritual sacrifice?
>>All cultures are equal...<<
My thoughts exactly.
That sounds like a country where 90% of it’s citizens are stuck in the 10th Century.
*** TIA ***
There may be no direct link to Islam, but Mali is 90% Muslim. Although the religion itself does not include ritual sacrifice of albinos, there also no “thou shalt not kill”. Allah will even reward you for murdering the right people.
Yup,I’ve seen it during a tour I had of Tanzania’s largest hospital years ago.A huge cultural superstition is a big part of the problem.
My daughter is young and has some liberal ideas. She asked me once where Africa would be culturally and technology wise if the Europeans hadn’t colonized it. I told her about 100 years behind where they are now and to prove it, I only have to show her articles like this.
A person who would do this has no soul and the heart of the devil.
Never go to Africa without reliable, armed escorts.
I thought W saved Africa.

“Albino five-year-old girl is snatched in front of her mother and found decapitated...”
I looked at that and thought...Florida?
Close.
There be sh*tholes in Africa
Africa was sparsely populated by tribal hunter-gatherers before European colonization. Average life expectancy was about 25. Tribal wars were common, which in modern Africa continues in the form of frequent ethnic cleansings. Every attempt to blame the white man for Africa’s problems only drags them further down into savagery.
