Democratic lawmakers are calling for a subpoena to force the U.S. Census Bureau and Commerce Department to release internal documents about the decision to add a controversial citizenship question to forms for the upcoming national headcount.
The request comes two weeks before a congressional oversight hearing on the 2020 census.
"We believe these documents are critical for our Committee," write all 18 Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in a letter to its chairman, Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, "to understand the concerns raised internally by career experts at the Census Bureau itself about the dangers of adding this untested new citizenship question to the census as well as why the Trump Administration disregarded these concerns."

Where are the internal DoJ documents driving the appointment of Weasel Mueller?
Hypothetical notes on the meeting: “Hey, I have an idea! Let bring back the Citizen Question on the 2020 Census.”
Followed by: “Good idea. Let’s vote. Unanimous decision.” :)
The question that should be asked: Why was the citizenship question ever removed?
right, just tell Libs it will take 3.5 years............
No mention that the question was on the questionnaire prior to 2010?
Putting the request into a paper shredder would be fun.
As Q says they fall for it every time....
It existed before and so there is precedence to put it back in, that is what the Census is supposed to accomplish. Also realize that anyone who puts down false information is guilty of a crime
Gotta run to the store and get more popcorn, this is getting really fun to watch
Sic Semper Tyrranis!
You know you've hit rock bottom as a nation, when the basic act of determining the citizenship of the country's residents is considered controversial.
Stall like the Dems do until after the census forms have already been mailed out.
Dems just throwing more cr@p against the wall to see what sticks.
Rat bastards can’t win an election unless they cheat, by allowing illegal aliens to vote. The SOB’s don’t care about the Constitution, or federal statutes, or common sense ... Whether you are a citizen of this republic does not mean squat to them. Just as long as this pack of rats can nest atop the rubble they create, they will happily destroy the greatest nation on Earth.
At some point, people, we’re gonna have to shoot these treasonous pricks.
Political groups wanting extra non-voting (or what should be non-voting) people counted in the census to artificially boost their House membership.
F them Trump is just putting the question back that Obongo removed.
The Dems are concerned for the same reason the slaveholders wanted all their slaves to be counted in the census for votes.
The 3/5th compromise was because the South had a huge slave population that would give them more members in the House, but weren’t allowed to vote for them.
Just like illegal aliens.
In 1850, the slaveholders voted their slaves’ representation. Today, the SEIU does.
It is all about voting and welfare to aliens. Welfare brings them here and they vote illegally for the democrat party. It is that simple.
ps
I lived in the United Kingdom for a few years and legally. I had full benefit of the social services as I was a legal resident and paid obscene taxes on my salary. They made great profit from me. I could not vote and this was very proper as I was not an English citizen.
This is really bothering the dems, because they have been winning elections with votes from non-citizens.
The question that should be asked: Why was the citizenship question ever removed?
++++++++++
Precisely. And the answer: to generate higher levels of illegal voting and to help ensure the re-election of Obama and Democrats everywhere.
The sooner the better.
