A report released Friday claims four of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israels deputies waited outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while the attack was occurring. On February 22 Breitbart News reported that one deputy resigned after it was learned that he was on scene but failed to control Nikolas Cruz. Sheriff Israel told ABC 13 that video shows the deputy, Scott Peterson, arrive at the west side of Building 12 and take a position outside the school but never go inside. The sheriffs office moved to suspend Peterson, who resigned before the suspension could take place.
Now CNN reports that the Coral Springs police officers claim three other Broward County deputies were outside the school but failed to go inside as well. They quote Coral Springs sources who said the three deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles when Coral Springs officers arrived. They said not one of [the deputies] had gone into the school.

“Shades of the Columbine High School massacre here in CO.”
Everything changed for LEOs after Columbine. Most departments that I’ve dealt with including my own the policy is the first officer arriving on scene goes in. No waiting. Go in and try to take out the bad guy. Is it dangerous? Of course, but it’s part of the job we signed up for.
Systematic: Methodical in procedure or plan.
it failed when The FBI didnt respond to a nine-one-one call, it failed on several other notable occasions that are being brought out by various sources.
There were procedures and plans in place. The persons involved did not follow the required protocols. It was more of a case of human failure than procedures and plans. The FBI had a tip line, but the person receiving the tips never sent them to the Miami field office. The signs were all there.
Remember this 9/11, might have been averted if somebody would have listened to a loan field agent who had obtained intelligence that foreign Nationals were training to fly heavy Jets. The FBI knew about it and took no action to investigate it. The result - the Twin Towers came down. This is on a much smaller scale but its a tragedy none the less
We had a commission on 9/11 that identified all the failures. It was not as simple as you pretend. The point is that no matter how detailed and all-encompassing the plan, ultimately the responsibility falls on the people implementing those plans. In the case of this shooting, it was more of a human failure than a lack of procedures and plans. The people involved did not follow the plan or the procedures.
WHAT .............. double negative????
STENCH AND STENCH SQUARED
“The people involved did not follow the plan or the procedures”
And the training, and the plans, and the procedures, all failed because they did not follow procedures. That’s a systematic failure.
When you don’t change your oil in your car and your engine fails it doesn’t matter if a crankshaft or a piston shattered it means the entire system as a car is now broken because it cannot move forward. That is systemic failure.
Yes I think that 4 Broward county cops with shotguns could have easily gone in and dropped that little whackjob. They all have shotguns in their patrol cars.
Honestly Mr. GG2 would likely have gone in with his cc weapon.
DAVID .............. where is your sorry ass????
You were THE BEAST'S first and ONLY love.
By the way David, here's hoping you didn't have Peyronies Disease too.

Nov 6, 1999 - There's a new biography of Hillary Clinton out in America, in which her first serious boyfriend, David Rupert, claims that their three-year relationship ended because the 23-year- old Hillary Rodham didn't consider him to be ambitious enough. Thinking the unthinkable: A case for orchestration

It is not a systemic failure. It is a human failure. The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. It is the same fallacy the liberals use when they think they can solve problems with legislation outlawing guns or other kinds of behavior. Just because you have plans and procedures don't mean that they will be executed as written. The human element is not always under control. As von Moltke said, "no plan of operations extends with any certainty beyond the first contact with the main hostile force."
When you dont change your oil in your car and your engine fails it doesnt matter if a crankshaft or a piston shattered it means the entire system as a car is now broken because it cannot move forward. That is systemic failure.
The car can be running with perfect efficiency, but an incompetent driver can run it into a ditch and render it inoperable. The four deputies that hid outside the school did not follow proper procedures. Peterson was suspended without pay for dereliction of duty. Who knows how many lives and injuries could have been avoided if someone other than this coward had been at the school?
I am convinced that if we could trace Cruz’s online activities and conversations we would find a deep state rat egging him on. It is a damn shame that the people can no longer trust the government. I keep hearing from many conservatives, like Hannity, that it is only the top brass at the FBI that is corrupt. I think the rot is far more pervasive.
Laz, thanks for the link. The situation is frightening.
Just ask a cop. Ask them if, during a hostage or live shooter situation, if they are not directly taking fire, they are supposed to 'investigate' or if they are supposed to wait for SWAT.
This deputy thing is just a distraction for the public.
The real question should be, why was there a ACTIVE SCHOOL SHOOTER DRILL being conducted that very day, with students told they would be hearing actual rifle fire, and why is none of the media mentioning it ?
WHO was conducting the SHOOTER DRILL ?
The ‘Caravan to Midnight’ video linked in this article’s comment section is very compelling. Thank you for posting this article.

Everything you say may well be true. I am simply saying I disagree with it. I have taken Active Shooter training, and I disagree with it completely.
If it were your kid inside the school, and shots were being fired and kids killed in there, would you say men with shotguns should sit outside and set a perimeter and wait?
Of course you wouldn’t.
I have never heard, ever, of an active shooter drill where part of the drill is the sound of gunfire. Where did you hear that was the case?
Do you have a credible link for that please? Not saying I don’t believe you, but I don’t believe they would do that, ever. I could. be wrong, but I will be stunned if I am.

One, I was willing to defend that he just didn’t have the cajones, it turned out. What this was wasn’t that all four deputies were simultaneously testosteronically challenged. THIS IS BROWARD POLICY! LET THEM GRIND UP THE KIDS, AND JUST POSE FOR THE CAMERAS BEHIND YOUR F@#$ING CAR DOORS! POLICY!

“It is a movie based on the true story. The heroes portray themselves in the movie.”
Yesterday I was talking about and researching to remember the rapid response by two detectives in suit coats armed with pistols that tossed all of their “planning” out the window as soon as they got to the school and saw the shooter. Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, OR. The detectives wounded him within a minute of arriving, then the shooter went into a room and killed himself. The detectives were there about 6 minutes after the first 911 call - ten dead by the time they arrived.
One hero was a former Army Vet, student Chris Mintz. He blocked a doorway and told the shooter no way he was getting into the classroom. Mintz was shot 5 times and survived - and the shooter didn’t go in the room.
Another person was supposed to be attending class at the school that day as well. (First day of classes iirc). His name is Alek Skalatos (sp?). But he was delayed in France - giving interviews about him and his buddies stopping the terrorist attack on the train!
Sounds like Roseburg raises men!
“It is not a systemic failure. It is a human failure”
Comparatively physical security of a school is very similar to Force Protection in the military. The difference being that in local school districts steps are rarely taken to adequately implement effective procedures. Guards are one thing, the physical structure and integrity is another. In force protection the human is an integral part of that system. And that system fails when the human componant fails. The system fails when planned response forces do not react properly or timely . Hardened physical features of the site can take up some slack, if actually in place. Known threats can be neutralized if intel is generated and checked out. A system. It failed for more reasons then late response times and failure to launch a rapid tactical counter move.
An honest hotwash of this will clearly bring this out... if it is honest.
I doubt the physical structure nor the force protection or contingency backup would pass any test. In fact those features of a force protection system all failed or were simply non-existent.
So you’ve got a bank with three shooters.
It’s your opinion that one guy should run marching in?
This deputy could not rule out there being more than one shooter.
