NBC News Column: 'Not a Chance' Trump Will Be Charged With Collusion
Self ^ | December 27, 2017 | P.J. Gladnick

Is NBC News sending a not so subtle message to its viewers and, especially, to its correspondents on the true state of the much touted Trump-Russia collusion investigation? One has to ask this question because, remarkably, NBC News published a column by Loyola Law School professor Jessica Levinson that asked about the possibility of a collusion charge and answered it in Will President Trump be charged with collusion in 2018? Not a chance:

It appears that the top management at NBC News are trying to get their correspondents and commentators to climb back off the Trump-Russia collusion limb without embarrassing themselves.

Haven’t read the article but my understanding is that collusion in this context is not a crime but something made up by the left. The actual crime would be conspiracy.

They’re hedging their bets. They know Mueller isn’t going to find anything on Trump but plenty on Hillary. That’s when this whole story will go stop cold dead.

Collusion isn’t a crime.

How many times does this need to be shouted from the mountain tops before it cuts through the mile thick head-bone into the hate-blinded, one dimensional mind?

It's such a fancy word, though. It must mean something important, an awe-inspiring criminal behavior, or something. Vegetable minds are difficult to convert to human minds.

Pictures of her need to cease!!

It ruins my digestion for about 24 hours.

She is without doubt, one of the ugliest women i’ve ever seen.

There was some withered white woman that used to appear on threads here and there but I forget her name.

Now she was HIDEOUS!

The independent counsel will shut down any avenue of investigation when it involves Hillary. His staff is constituted solely of Hillary worshippers.

NBC is Comcast.

Trump’s FCC just gave back to Comcast what the Won took away.

The MSM is largely Disney and Comcast. But Hell, what difference does it make... everyone continues to yammer about the irrelevant pawns.

Except in antitrust. But you nailed it, that was the only point of the article. The causal shorthand accusation of "collusion" touted by the press is technically inaccurate. The author offers a few other crimes that Trump may be guilty of.

No way is this article any sort of "backing down."

McClatchy is now pushing the following, and other MSM are picking it up, even tho it’s already done the rounds just weeks ago:

27 Dec: McClatchy: Jailed Russian says he hacked DNC on Kremlin’s orders and can prove it
By Kevin G. Hall
In an interview with Russia’s RAIN television channel made public Wednesday, Konstantin Kozlovsky provided further details about what he said was a hacking operation led by the Russian intelligence agency known by its initials FSB...
Kozlovsky first came to public attention in early December when word spread about his confession last Aug. 15 in a Russian courtroom that he was the person who hacked into DNC computers on behalf of Russian intelligence...

In written answers from jail made public Wednesday by RAIN TV, a Moscow-based independent TV station that has repeatedly run afoul of the Kremlin, Kozlovsky said he feared his minders might turn on him and planted a “poison pill” during the DNC hack. He placed a string of numbers that are his Russian passport number and the number of his visa to visit the Caribbean island of St. Martin in a hidden .dat file, which is a generic data file...

“Based on my experience and understanding of professional intelligence operations, the blending of criminal activity with sanctioned intelligence operations is an old page out of the Russian intelligence-services playbook,” said Leo Taddeo, chief information security officer for Cyxtera Technologies and a former head of cyber operations in the FBI’s New York office. “What the defendant (in Russia) is describing would not be inconsistent with past Russian intelligence operations.”...

funny how an ex-FBI guy is being quoted.

11 Dec: Fortune: Russian website The Bell, known for a generally critical stance towards President Vladimir Putin and the corruption under his rule, reported Monday that Konstantin Kozlovsky had testified to carrying out attacks at the request of state intelligence organs, notably the FSB...

12 Dec: Newsweek: Putin Ordered Theft Of Clinton’s Emails From DNC, Russian Hacker
A Russian hacker accused of stealing from Russian banks reportedly confessed in court that he hacked the U.S. Democratic National Committee (DNC) and stole Hillary Clinton’s emails under the direction of agents from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

re the ex-FBI guy quoted by McClatchy, Leo Taddeo:

he was being quoted in this 5-journo Bloomberg piece in Sept, which also involved Schneiderman. as an aside, from what I can gather, Taddeo used to work out of NYC, at some stage.

9 Sept: Bloomberg: One Thing Government Agrees on: Equifax Deserves a Grilling
By Elizabeth Dexheimer, Chris Stroh, and David McLaughlin
With assistance by Arit John, and Todd Shields
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office said in a statement that it had opened an investigation into Equifax because the hack had affected more than 8 million New Yorkers...

Although Equifax said the attack was carried out by criminals, the FBI will work to determine if there are also “potential national security implications” such as involvement by agents of a foreign government, said Leo Taddeo, a former FBI special agent who led cybersecurity investigations.
“It’s hard to tell the difference these days between an intelligence operation and a criminal operation,” said Taddeo, now chief information security officer for Cyxtera Technologies Inc...

Now that we know which charges we will not see, we must ask which charges we might see as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into potential coordination between the Trump campaign and administration and the Russian government.

Let us begin at the beginning. Before Donald Trump became President Trump, the FBI was looking into connections between the Russian government and the Trump campaign.

Yes, there have been charges as a result of Meuller's investigation, but not regarding what the investigation was even about. The charges are a "result" of the investigation.

NBC says "let us begin at the beginning" and then immediately, because there is no evidence of anything happening at the beginning, fast forward to the firing of Comey by Trump as President. What happened to beginning at the beginning?

Also, at this point, it won't be about "charges". This is now only about impeachment. Thus, if the roles were swapped and Hillary was President and Comey said his piece about Hillary and her "reckless conduct" as the result of a post election investigation, but did not recommend charging her with an offense, she could still be impeached based on the "finding". That appears to be the goal of the Dems here, to take whatever Mueller says and run with it, no matter what it is, and impeach Trump.

Do we honestly believe that the USA does no hacking? That is my first thought in reading that.

If the .dat file was there with the info, I would have to think it would already have been "leaked" as proof to put Russian meddling as an incontrovertible fact. Anyway, WikiLeaks might have the last laugh on this one.
