Spanish uses feminine or masculine words and “swamp” can be translated as cienaga in the feminine sense or pantano in the masculine. A third word, marisma, can be used if the swamp is near the sea.

Ummm, how do you tell if it’s a girl swamp or a boy swamp? What if self-identifies as a gay swamp?
