Two yuge orders for new container ships by leading shippers.
Does the Baltic Dry Index indicate a need for more capacity?
yup
I have been seeing them running one after the other lately. No doubt the reason I have seen them sitting idle at Valentine, for example, is that they have been having some problems with traffic on the line someplace.
I would like to see the statistics on it. At Obastards last year, frieght on the lines was down about 10% or more on the lines. UP was way down. They had engines in storage on the sidings in a few places.
It's showing the worst of the slump may be over but it's nowhere near what it was as a couple of years ago. Even with that the market capacity far outstrips demand.
If you ship huge magnets, won’t they stick to the hull? Not to mention screwing up the compass.
Electromagnates.
