This summer’s images of violence in Charlottesville, Va., prompted an array of questions. “Some people hate others because they are different,” I offer, lamely. A childish but distinct panic enters his voice. “But I’m not different.”
It is impossible to convey the mixture of heartbreak and fear I feel for him. Donald Trump’s election has made it clear that I will teach my boys the lesson generations old, one that I for the most part nearly escaped. I will teach them to be cautious, I will teach them suspicion, and I will teach them distrust. Much sooner than I thought I would, I will have to discuss with my boys whether they can truly be friends with white people.
Meaningful friendship is not just a feeling. It is not simply being able to share a beer. Real friendship is impossible without the ability to trust others, without knowing that your well-being is important to them. The desire to create, maintain or wield power over others destroys the possibility of friendship. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous dream of black and white children holding hands was a dream precisely because he realized that in Alabama, conditions of dominance made real friendship between white and black people impossible.

The human mind creates models of the world around it. That’s how we think and relate to the larger realities of the world. Pithy Twain quote or no, that’s how things work.
You need to decide if you’re going to use your Race as a Crutch or a Club, you can’t have it both ways.
I am amazed the elite and libs are so ignorant in pushing this race war. They really think, like Charles Manson did, that they can garner power by causing a race war. And their white behinds will be safe, honored, and live like kings. Or is it, that they know the other races won’t win and that is their aim? After all, they are the party with all the racism atrocities. Of course, they are expecting to get rid of their opposition at the same time.
Here’s a dose of reality, an elementary school teacher friend constantly reports that the smallest children announce there are too many white people in the school, and many African American children have to be assigned to black teachers because the parents openly hate white people.
OK -— so YOU (the writer of the article) are teaching YOUR CHILD to fear and hate, and projecting YOUR bigotry onto the ones YOU want him to hate?!? And YOU don’t see the problem with that?!? Nice . . .

I couldn’t fail to notice he has taught his kids all about racism but not the lesson generations old, don’t lie, steal, cheat and thou shalt not kill. Any parent that skips those more important lessons rather than it’s whitey’s fault might miss why his child has no friends and is in constant trouble.
In the mid-70’s, I worked on the South Side of Chicago. A Black co-worker’s mother died and I went to her house to pay my respects. Another Black co-worker was there, but this one had a big chip on her shoulder. She looked at me and said ‘what are YOU doing here?’. I said I wanted Liz to know I cared about her and pay my respects. She just said ‘oh’. But it didn’t change her attitude about me at work. This WAS a long time ago, but it is still true......I only ever encounter bigotry FROM Blacks, and I rarely see racism from Whites.

My #1 question is why would you expose your own 4-year-old to that story in the first place.
My bet is you didn’t, but it makes a nice narrative for your hit-piece.
Generalizations are useful in dealing with snakes with rattles or little black animals with white stripes, but when interacting with humans we should be more circumspect. That’s why we have brains.

If as a kid you are harassed, beaten and stolen from by blacks or some other race you would tend to hate and avoid them, no adult prejudices necessary.
I grew up in the projects in Brooklyn, one of my first memories as a 2 or 3 year old was boiling water on a stove to pour on some black kids that were hassling me.
They must have pissed me off something fierce,but I was a mean little SOB myself, apparently.
My Grandmother stopped me from going forward, but this concept that hate and prejudice is taught by adults is not absolute.
