One of the most obnoxious, deceitful expressions to worm its way into the English language in the past 30 years: "I need you to..." (= "I hereby demand that you...")

He needed a yes or no answer. I would have replied: I'm very sorry that you "need" a "yes-or-no" answer, but I'm not giving you one. I would want to go with, "That's interesting. What happens when your need goes unmet?"
(Of course the Totalitarianism enabler will check "yes" on his form for any answer other than "no", so I just went with "no".)
