Trump is on track to win reelection
The Washington Post ^ | October 6, 2017 | Doug Sosnik

More than half of Americans don’t think Donald Trump is fit to serve as president, yet he has a clear path to winning reelection. If Trump isn’t removed from office and doesn’t lead the country into some form of global catastrophe, he could secure a second term simply by maintaining his current level of support with his political base.

We have entered a new era in American politics. The 2016 election exposed how economic, social and cultural issues have splintered the country and increasingly divided voters by age, race, education and geography. This isn’t going to change.

What have changed are the political fault lines that have driven the debate since the early 1980s. Until now, the ideological divides between the parties were largely differences around social issues, defense spending and trade, as well as tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. Today, the central issue has become populism as voters have moved away from the two political parties and increasingly self-identified as independents....

I say this sometimes to my wife and when I say “later” what I really mean is “never”.

LOL

am reacting out of anger right now. I have not made any decisions yet beyond venting on FR. I have not canceled my NRA membership, though I have sent pointed emails and voicemails to my Rep that any gun control is not acceptable. I’ll see how I feel next week.

Ah, I do that too—and I have not loved every move Pres. Trump has made—but I do think about the alternatives...Ugh...Even if we had Rubio or Bush—it would be terrible and they would be right there with the gun grabbers encouraging a bunch of controls that will do nothing except erode citizens’ right to protect themselves.

On the other hand, the president is weakened a bit of lots of people do the same.

Absolutely, but they are betting that he is strong enough to withstand it, at least more than they could being put on a leftist hit list.

It would also make God smile — just as the Good Samaritan would.

Be careful about what you do with your laurels, dear Republicans. God has no grandchildren.

Not to give the Democrats any information they might learn from for future use:

Doug—You need to spend a summer WORKING on a remote ranch.

Then you will find out what it is like to live without ‘security’ surrounding you & illegals coming thru your property like it is a mountain freeway just for them.
