He might have been enough of a highroller to get management to keep the cleaning crew out of his room(s) during his stay.
A high roller room might also have given him more privacy.
Mandalay Bay also lets itself be closed to the public at times for private interests that they don’t disclose. That might have created an opportunity for someone to stash something somewhere there for retrieval at a later time.
