City taxes are imposed on already higher Illinois taxes. For some Illinois residents, the high property taxes are their motive for moving (many would prefer to stay but don’t like the taxes).

Homeowners still pay in the form of lost value on the property when they sell to move. Good luck trying to sell when people are moving. We left the state in 2013 and took a 40% loss on sale of the house we built in 2007.
