Sagar, it causes shipping companies to “THINK” about who they want to do business with. It really clamps down on N.K.’s options.

It also prevents Kim from shipping “a device” to the U.S. on the spur of the moment.

Even if a device went off in our harbors, it would be devastating.

This isn’t like blaming something on a gun.

It’s reducing delivery systems, as well as putting economic pressure on Kim.

This has teeth in it.

And if it meets with some success, guess what we’ll be implementing on Iran sooner or later.

I like this.

Banning ships will get the attention of the people who own the ship. More to the point, many other nations will also adopt these sanctions, reducing the number of ports they can serve. A ship that has to sit in port due to having nowhere to go turns into a gigantic money sink.

People don't carry vast quantities of cargo that can be exchanged for money with which to fund North Korea's weapons programs. Ships do.
