When I was a third grader in public suburban Connecticut elemetary school, we were taught to sing “Cotton Needs Pickin’”. I bet they don’t teach that in music class anymore.

I remember singing that song, too, when I was in elementary school on Long Island, NY. (MANY years ago)

“Gonna jump down turn around pick a bale of cotton.
Gonna jump down turn around pick a bale today.

Cotton needs pickin’, so-oo bad....”

That’s all the words I remember.

We sang Pick a Bake of Cotton. But my school was all white. By the way, a lot of white people also picked cotton.
