President Trump on Thursday denied that a deal was reached with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi over DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The two Democratic leaders announced after a dinner meeting with Trump on Wednesday that a deal had been reached.
We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the President, they wrote in a joint statement. The discussion focused on DACA. We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, thats acceptable to both sides.
The president took to Twitter early Thursday to explain that wasnt true.
No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote, he wrote.

The WALL, which is already under construction in the form of new renovation of old and existing fences and walls, will continue to be built, he added.

He then followed up suggesting he did not want to see Dreamers kicked out of the country.
Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really! They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own - brought in by parents at young age. Plus BIG border security, he wrote.

There are approximately 800,000 illegal immigrant minors who are currently being protected under the DACA program.
The executive law was removed and those who are in violation of the law have a 6 months grace period.
The children aren't guilty of any crimes, their parents are the ones who broke the law.
There is no “executive law”. What the hell are you talking about?
I agree with Trump. Having watched some kids of Mexicans grow up, they are harder working than some of the fortunate American children who are raised in affluence. To throw out these young people, if they identify as American through and through, is shortsighted. We need them to fill in for retiring baby boomers in jobs that many young Americans wouldn’t do. Immigrants are the ones who often gravitate to certain endeavors. Let’s get them interviewed, access their allegiance, and get them on the path to citizenship.
But please stop enabling this sick cycle by simply ending ALL handouts and free medical care to everyone!
It’s pretty clear that Chuck and Nancy were accurate, and Trump is just trying to tamp down the objections of his jilted base with the fig leaf that their agreeing to having some sort of “enhanced border security” that they will hammer out in the bill somehow wasn’t a deal. It was and is a deal to work out a deal—that stabs Trump’s voters and base in the back.
