Monday on Fox Business Networks Varney & Co., conservative commentator Ann Coulter, author of In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome! suggested rather than impose a ban on people from certain countries, President Donald Trump should enact a temporary ban on all immigration to the United States.
Coulter said if everyone were banned, that would eliminate the religious aspects that are preventing Trump from enacting his policy on immigration.
I mean, what Trump, for example, suggested in his immigration policy paper, the greatest document since the Magna Carta, was a temporary ban on all immigration, Coulter said. You have no religious problem then. Why doesnt he go back to that? Its both more aggressive be very careful. Let in a few a year. Were letting in 2 million people a year illegal, legal, guest workers. Probably more than 2 million. And The New York Times writes, Well, its just impossible to vet that many people coming in. Well, dont let in that many people then. Its not that hard.
And as for the detention, I would say yes, there are ways to be aggressive, she continued. Id think in some ways Id be more aggressive. But I dont think it would raise as many hackles because it looks nothing like an internment. I mean, Europe as an easier time than we do. They dont have a First Amendment. In Germany, its a crime to support the Nazi Party. Are you worried about the Nazis today? No, but we are worried about ISIS. We are worried about Islamic terrorism. It ought to be a crime not merely to communicate, but to advocate that ideology and they ought to be thrown out of the country."

Talent has nothing to do with it. We have enough talented people.
Define “immigration”? Most of the 9/11 hijackers entered the U.S. on tourist visas. Do we halt tourists? Are people here on student visas or H-1B visas considered immigrants and will be halted? Or is she just talking about people wanting to move here permanently, and if so then that is less than a partial solution.
What did you mean by this?
Like those other times we were so afraid we stopped immigration?
When was that, exactly?
He was a Jordanian "Palestinian" and a terrorist too.
Don't give them any ideas...
The Mouse wouldn’t like that much.
“After we stop letting people in, we can move on to not letting people out.”
That’s crap.
Common sense would suggest that a total ban on immigration is the way to go. The ban should last as long as it takes to get our current problems with immigration solved which would include a border wall built, processing/disposal of illegal immigrants already here and an effective system in place for future immigration purposes. And, now and forever, don’t allow any muslims into our country.
No. Only m*slims.
During the Harding administration, a stop-gap immigration measure was passed by Congress in 1921 for the purpose of slowing the flood of immigrants entering the United States.
A more thorough law was signed by President Coolidge in May 1924. It provided for the following:
The quota for immigrants entering the U.S. was set at two percent of the total of any given nation`s residents in the U.S. as reported in the 1890 census;
after July 1, 1927, the two percent rule was to be replaced by an overall cap of 150,000 immigrants annually and quotas determined by "national origins" as revealed in the 1920 census.
Fear and common sense are not the same thing. I don’t care that we have never done it before. We’ve never had a political party intent on using immigration to capture single party rule before either.
We’ve it before. I think it was around 1919-1924. We did not allow anyone to come here, from anywhere.
Exactly. They can’t scream “Islamophobia” or whatever if EVERYBODY is banned. In the past, (the 1920s to the 1960s) when this country greatly limited immigration, that’s when we became a wonderful place. Everybody looks back to the “good old days” when we put men on the moon and nobody had to lock their doors. But what we’re not allowed to say is that that was before the immigration floodgates were opened.
No one has a God-given right to come here.
For at least three years. Maybe five.
5.56mm
This didn't limit total immigration but capped the number from certain countries.
Got a relevant example?
Immigration was ratcheted down most in the ‘30s, ‘40s, and early ‘50s. Sometimes the years ‘25 through ‘65 are called ‘The Great Pause’ in immigration.
The early ‘20s saw a reduction in the massive immigration of previous decades, but didn’t stop it by any stretch. What happened then was an attempt to exclude Easter and Southern Europeans and Jews.
That era, BTW, was the beginning of Jews’ devotion to Democrats. World War I and its aftermath were disastrous for Jews, and the US under Republicans was closing as a refuge for them.
Most immigrants are socialists from 3rd world hell holes and Muslims . This is thanks to Ted Kennedy and his 1965 immigration act. repeal that too.
