Todd Rundgren isnt bothered that some of his fans might avoid his concerts due to his politics.
The 68-year-old musician and record producer conceded as much in an interview with Variety when asked about an incident in which a couple walked out of a concert in Los Angeles due to comments he made about President Donald Trump.
No, Rundgren said when asked if it bothered him. If I had the power, Id say: If youre a Trump supporter, dont come to my show, because you wont have a good time. And also, I dont understand your frickin values. Because Im not singing about that. If you dont understand that basic thing, youre just fooling yourself.
The Hello Its Me singer was talking to the magazine to promote his latest album, White Knight, which is filled with collaborations with artists such as Nine Inch Nails Trent Reznor and Joe Walsh.
One song on the album, Tin Foil Hat, is a direct jab at Trump, written and performed with Steely Dan co-founder Donald Fagen. The lyrics reference Trumps now-famous descent down an escalator at Trump Tower to announce his presidential run, and add that Trump tweets like a teenage girl and puts the pluto in plutocrat.'
Rundgren is currently on a cross-country tour, with multiple dates in Florida and Texas, states that Trump won during the 2016 campaign. But the musician told Variety that Trump supporters will likely be offended if they attend his concerts.
Let the buyer beware! I mean, if you cant take a joke, or you cant admit that youve made a mistake, you dont belong with the rest of us, he said with a laugh.

Oh, so he had another hit song besides “Hello Its Me.”
Good for him. Now he has enough money to see a shrink and get over his Trump hatred.
I had to look it up. Early 1970s AM music.
Reminds me of elementary school.
Nothing I would listen to the past many decades.
People should go to the show and boo loudly. Or block the entrance so his fans can’t get inside.
Todd Rundgren...Todd Rundgren...
...wasn’t he like some musician from like, 40 years ago?
WSAGACWHTK?
(why should anyone give a crap what he thinks now)
I’ve heard from people that his shows are HORRIBLE. So he’s doing people a favor by telling them not to come.
Yet another member of the Washed Up Has Been community playing grown up.
Only Leftist scumbags make intolerant demands like these.
I like “I Saw the Light (in Your Eyes)” because it reminds me of a time in my life with a very special lady who had such lovely, lovely eyes. She was my first true love and perhaps my greatest.
Outside of that, Todd Rundgren can go to hell.
No problem. Who is this guy?
Don’t worry asshat, I would never ever come to your pathetic show!!!
Didn’t know you were even still alive, loser!!!
When the phone don’t ring, you’ll know it’s me.
Todd Rundgren is doing a calculated exploitation of der Hildebeast supporters. He know these supporters are crying the blues and he casts himself as the Messiah to take them to the Promised Land. His claim to fame was his “Hellow It’s Me” that was made in 1972 and made the top 5 on the charts. Rundgren has not down much since. He is trying to capture the magic of the 1960s by going to the same old formula. I expect to see advertisement for a night singing at one of our numerous Indian casinos.
My glasses prevented me from catching my typos. Excuse them.
Done!
Shut up nd sing!
And Maybe consider breaking the prozaks in half...
Who? Never heard of him.
