No, it wasn't. President Trump wanted it because that was the bill that was cobbled together by the House leadership. If the bill repealed Obamacare and replaced with a single-payer system he would have supported it. If the bill repealed Obamacare and replaced it with another bill that was identical to Obamacare he would have supported it. If the bill required everyone in the U.S. to get a lobotomy he would have supported it. He's been all over the map on this issue and got himself involved in a process that was completely out of his control.
If Trump really wanted that bill then I would ask two questions:
1. Why didn't he make a single nationally televised appeal to lay out the terms of the bill and explain to Americans why it was a good idea?
2. Why would he ever accept a rushed, half-assed process with an artificial deadline set by Paul Ryan that was only established so it would coincide with the anniversary of the original Obamacare legislation? Trump probably spent more time figuring out the paint color schemes for Trump Tower than he spent working on a this bill.
I was discussing this with my father in law over breakfast.
We decided that if you gave Trump a 20 question quiz on what was in this beautiful bill, he may have gotten 4 correct.
This is the danger of electing a “businessman” in general and THIS businessman in particular. He’s used to saying to his legal team, “Clear up the title issues on that lot by April 1” and his operations team “We go live on April 15” and his PR team, “Let me do the PR because that’s what I’m best at....” And in real estate, he could wing it if he had to.
The president can’t just give orders to different silos and expect everyone to do what he says.
Because he cannot get a televised tweet in less than 140 characters

What are you talking about here. Ocare was passed around Christmas so not sure what you are meaning here by anniversary. And as far as deadlines, President Trump pushed to have a vote last week. Which was good. IT let it DIE
