Democratic lawmakers introduced a proposal to place a fee on opioid prescriptions with the revenue going to combat rampant painkiller and heroin addiction across the U.S.

Sen. Chris Murphy and Sen. Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut, a state hit hard by increases in drug overdoses, are calling for a one-cent per-milligram tax to be added to prescriptions for opiate-based painkillers.

Only taxing the prescriptions?

Don’t want the drug smugglers to have to fill out the paperwork?

Democratic Senators Propose Tax On Painkillers To Combat Opioid Epidemic

Proposed knowing full well that most of their constituents are street thugs who will steal or shoplift opiods, bypassing any tax.

They also want to tax mileage on cars. But they’re for the ‘little man’.

Won’t taxing painkillers drive the trade underground and stimulate the black market?

Oh, wait...

They’re using their gun control logic ..... take guns away from the law abiding, leaving them defenseless, & the lawless keep doing what they’re doing. Tax the law abiding who really NEED these prescriptions & the lawless keep doing what they’re doing.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a tax on doctors who prescribe these poisons. It might encourage them to be much more cautious about their use.

What a load of crap.

All I hear lately is how Trump’s budget is going to hurt the elderly. Guess who uses more painkillers than anyone?

Yes, the older folks who need them to get through the day somewhat pain-free.

Burn the poppy fields and build the damn wall.

Because street drug dealers are ready, willing and able to collect the tax.

The first thing Liberals want to do is tax rather than get to the cause of a problem.

Spending other peoples money is not the cure.
