What bothers me about this is. Telling troops who may have had brothers blown to hell by an IED set by these bastards that they have to be nice doesn’t set well. If that traitor McCain is delighted and MSM is happy well that’s a bad thing. Trump has made some concessions in an effort to turn down the heat. IMHO it’s a mistake.

When you are dealing in a tribalistic environment where you depend on friendlies to deprive insurgents of support it is a good thing if the friendlies don’t overhear your forces using a disrespectful term in a catchall way -not just in reference to insurgents but also in reference to the friendlies.
There has to be mutual respect between your forces and friendlies or else you’ll end up fighting everyone including people who otherwise would never have entered the fray, or who may even have been highly sympathetic to your goals.

Prisoner handling regulations from the 1950’s (The Five “S’s) always stated that prisoners should be protected from physical and verbal assaults while being “Sped” to the rear. This is just s repetition of the normal rules of warfare.
And as a prisoner handler on the other side, I was glad the MPs and soldiers did not verbally abuse the prisoners, it made it much easier for me to “talk” to them.
