Monopoly is ditching the thimble, a token of the past (Freeper assistance needed)

It’s game over for Monopoly’s iconic thimble token.

Hasbro, Inc. announced the classic game piece will not be part of an updated version of the board game.

In January, the company launched a worldwide vote, asking fans to pick eight tokens to be included in the next generation of the game. Fans were allowed to choose from more than 50 game pieces, including current and new tokens. Some of the new options included a rubber duck, a bunny slipper and an emoji.

It’s because no one young enough to want to play Monopoly today is going to even know what a thimble is.

Speak for yourself! I'm middle aged and would be happy to play a good four player game of Monopoly.

“I’m middle aged and would be happy to play a good four player game of Monopoly.”

Here’s a couple of game tricks for you:

Trade high price properties to secure monopolies on low price properties.

Fill the properties with houses.

Do not upgrade to hotels unless you can buy back your houses immediately.

There are only 32 houses. There cannot be more added. If you own them all, no one else can build.

Collect rent. Win.

The game isn't that fun compared to games designed in the last twenty years. Play better games.

There are so many games out there that offer a lot more entertainment relative to the time spent playing them.

Maybe it should be knitting needles and a ball of yarn. Feminists are so into knitting hats these days.

A computer keyboard, iPhone, coffee mug, baby monitor or a passport could be included.

Maybe a suicide vest?

Good for her, but she should have worn a suit that fit properly for the photo shoot. Sad.

Monopoly used to be made at Parker Bros.
in Salem MA. The street names etc came
from Atlantic City, I think.

Hillary, go to jail.Go dieectly to jail.
Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200,000,000.

Here’s a couple of game tricks for you:

I'm pretty well versed in Monopoly strategy. The best book I have seen on it is "1000 Ways to Win Monopoly Games" written by Jay Walker (founder of Priceline) and Jeff Lehman (president of Cornell). Well, at least ONE of them made good!

About six years ago Hallmark Chanel had a Christmas Movie which featured a woman who wanted to be fashion designer and open her own company. She told her boy friend that when she was little she always chose the thimble as it was her ‘lucky’ piece. When she opened her business it was going to be called “Thimble Designs”.

When Christmas Eve came, he gave her a gold necklace with a Thimble charm.

I used to play Monopoly with my kids. I would put a Teddy Bear near the Pass Go spot and every time you went past it you had to give $100 of the $200 you got to the Teddy Bear. It was called the Teddy Bear Because Tax. Eventually the Bear would win the game without even having to roll the dice.

Eventually, the kids said “We get it Dad, now lets play regular Monopoly.”
