It is within 1.5 feet of its level achieved in 2016 whihc was seven months before the 2017 mess.

That was one of the things that had them alarmed early in the 2017 rise of runoff. They knew they were way ahead of the record 2016 curve.

Still only have one side of the spillway open possibly confirming the gate problem someone mentioned. And, that is not fully open for the couple of gates on the open side.

Modest change. They have the full width of the spillway wetted by releasing water so perhaps all the gates are moderately open. It is hardly coming off the end, but fully wet.

They have brought the lake down a half inch today and are only keeping up with in-flow with the lake still as high as they ever have it.

Is a video about the water coming out of gate 8 despite the DWR announcement that no main spillway usage is planned. We are at 5 feet shy of the emergency spillway level.

This “Watch Group” may worth following for those interested.

The Webcams are down again supposedly.

The lake got near the top and nothing has yet happened except gate 8 giving a little burp. The whole thing is out of the news now and probably will remain until the next impending disaster.

Its almost like the California news media wants to protect and propagandize for the California government.

spilling is planned for 6/24

Abundant snowpack still in the mountains so lakes across the state are maintaining higher than usual levels.

Secondly, the gates leak - so a wet main spillway is not unusual.

There are no storms forcast (probably won’t see significant precipitation now until October), so there should be no concern.

Thanks for the update but it was a late as the last 48 hours that media was being told no opening is planned.

As far as the gates “leaking” it was certainly unplanned as Kewit was doing surface and joint work just below that gate and had sand bags wash away etc.

The concern that I have is for the issues ignored: Main dam face, water sensors, gate trunion repairs etc — not the main spillway or emergency spillway.

Thanks for the update.

Not the place I’d want to celebrate the 4th ...

https://water.ca.gov/News/Blog/2019/June-2019/Lake-Oroville-Operations-Update-June-14

4th of July Celebration in Oroville
Oroville is always a great place to celebrate Fourth of July. The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oroville and will be held at California State Park’s Thermalito North Forebay recreation area, as well as at the nearby Feather River Recreation and Park District’s Nelson Sports Complex. Activities will start at the Sports Complex 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the fireworks display will start 30 minutes after sunset.

DWR has partnered with CALFIRE/Butte County and State Parks to prepare for the event including conducting a Vegetation Management Project to remove dry grass from an area in the North Forebay. The controlled burn conducted on June 10 around the location of the fireworks launch area will prevent the possibility of the fireworks starting a wildfire.

Follow the event’s Facebook page at Lake Oroville Fireworks for the latest information.

For more information, follow us on Twitter or Facebook and read our news releases and DWR updates.

Thanks for the ping. I was just thinking about Oroville the other day and wondering how things were going.

FWIW here in KC we had mucho rains last Friday, The Kansas is at 38ft + at 23rd st again. I can see the Kansas out my back window and it is only a foot or two up the levee!

Lake Perry is 28 ft above normal levels, good chance the summer boating season is wiped out there. Most of the other lakes around KC are well above normal also.

Regards

The Kern River flows from that reservoir right through the center of Bakersfield and then into the Cross Valley canal system and the LA water aqua-ducts.

Shows Isabella is at about 70 % of total capacity but they are in the middle of an improvement project.

It got this high in summer of ‘17 as well but It is pretty full for what it protects.
