Pick your winner, and then we can discuss as the game unfolds!
Shaun King has a better chance of being warmly accepted by a cell of white supremacists than I do.
Also gotta admit that after successfully carrying out a self-imposed SB blackout, I tuned in with four minutes left, thinking that most of the PC bullsh!t would've spent itself by then.
And oh lordy what an amazing four minutes they were ! !
So many levels of vindication on 100 yards of grass :-)
⛹ 👍
At one point, I found myself having a one way conversation with God, and I ended up breaking up the "conversation" with "I know it sounds like I am praying, and praying for victory, and I just wanted you to know I'm not. I recognize this isn't even close to an appropriate thing to pray for, with so much more that could benefit from your attention. I guess I was just trying to...talk with you. So, never mind. Listen to someone else, I am going to keep talking for a little while."
It IS after all a sporting event, and not worthy of prayers or appeals. If I am going to make an appeal, it will be about being given strength or guidance in a tough situation, or for mercy and strength for someone who is going through a difficult time. As I said, I am not a churchgoing person, but I wonder...is this usual when people pray? Do you ever catch yourself with a "Never mind God...I know this doesn't rise to a "prayerable" level, and I wasn't thinking. Sorry for wasting your time..." In retrospect, it was somewhat humorous for me.
Thanks, FRiend. It was a wild night.
You’re welcome.
Wild? Something like that. Wow......
Add me to your ‘congregation’, FRiend.
This should be the headline:
TEAM OWNED BY TRUMP PAL STAGES MIRACLE COMEBACK, DEFEATS FALCONS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 51.
LIBERALS IN ANGUISH!
You should see the reaction on Twitter from (obviously) Hillary Clinton supporters--much of it not repeatable here on Free Republic!
I am trying to find my way. If we are on FR there’s a good chance we ARE in the same congregation already!
It was well deserved.
The Superbowl, the Halftime "Show" (understatement), and the NFL today, is nothing BUT emotional groupthink.
“thumbs up”
If some chooses to watch it, I agree. I don’t watch, so I wouldn’t know.
I was speaking of the halftime show. I would be interested in hearing how watching football is groupthink, apart from the concept of fandom.
Because it is true that fandom is by definition, groupthink, but all sports and entertainment is, to a degree.
Some of the most hateful posts EVER were on DU after the game.
They are truly NUTS !!!!!!
(There were some calmer posts though, the few adults in the crowd.)
You make a lot of sense!
It didn’t seem quite right to pray for a team, but it was uncomfortable feeling so hopeless.
Praying to see unlimited possibilities made me feel less helpless - closing my eyes (literally) to what seemed hopeless and just kind of asking to see what could be.
Man, what a humbling lesson seeing the game turn around like that.
Just watched Brady at his press conference - what a cool guy.
What do you have to say now?
No it wouldn't. The Pats would have gone for the PAT and tied the game. They would not have attempted a 2-point conversion for the win down by one.
