The Union was not fighting for survival or against slavery up to 1863. The Union was fine albeit smaller. Only the South was fighting for its survival. At no point, at any time did the South want to occupy or conquer the North. That is silly.

I don’t understand why they called themselves “rebels”. Rebels don’t want to just leave and be left alone.
