Trump says he may scrap Russia sanctions

Washington (AFP) - President-elect Donald Trump has hinted that he may lift sanctions on Russia and won't stand by the "One China" policy unless Beijing improves its currency and trade practices.

Trump told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published Friday that he would keep intact "at least for a period of time" sanctions President Barack Obama's administration imposed on Russia last month over Moscow's alleged cyberattacks to influence the US election.

But, if Russia helps the US on key goals such as fighting violent extremists, Trump suggested he may scrap the punitive measures altogether.

He also said he was prepared to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin after taking office January 20.

Trump, who sees an opportunity to cooperate with Moscow in fighting jihadist groups like Islamic State, has expressed admiration for Putin, and only reluctantly accepted US intelligence's conclusion that Russian hackers acting on Putin's authority interfered in the US elections.

Turning to the longstanding US practice of not recognizing Taiwan diplomatically, Trump said: "Everything is under negotiation, including One China."

Tell me, did you predict that Trump would lose the popular election?

If you did not or if you predicted a popular vote victory, does that mean that every other reply you ever made is of no value? Do you apply that rule to any one else or just to me?

Please explain of what relevance is the accuracy, or a lack of accuracy, in such predictions and why you believe they tell us anything about any other analysis?

Is it your habit to judge an analysis not on its merits but instead to find out if the author is on your approved list?

I have tried in the past, and you would have no part of it.

Why would one expend the effort in the face of such intransigence, now?

I belong to that elite club, who not only predicted Trump in a historic landslide in 2015, but supported him since day one, 6/16/2015. Of course you know that nate. Now ya attempted to break in down into more specifics? Nice try slick and thanks for the humor you're provided throughout this historic election! I really do appreciate your effort!

Deal with it nate!

I still think that Russia is not going to be our friend at the end of this. In fact, I predict that relations between Trump and Putin within 2 years will be even colder than they are now between Obama and Putin.

The inescapable fact remains,I correctly predicted the popular vote and you got it wrong. By your logic you are unworthy of credence on any other subject

So? If the popular vote were the criteria for victory, Trump runs a completely different campaign. He decided not to waste his time on California, which provided the margin for Hillary in the popular vote.

There is no reason, no U.S. Strategic interest, that requires a hostile relationship with Russia.

None whatsoever.

Here’s to a new, realistic, stable and constructive relationship with Russia.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Exactly right. Hell, the Democrats and other Marxist-inspired, anti-Americans here in the U.S. are more of a threat to our country than Putin and Russia.

Hell for that matter, Russians have never done anything as egregious toward America as did the Japanese, and our relationship with Japan is very good.

Quite true as far as it goes but the question is the accuracy of the prediction because that, evidently, is set up as the qualification to be able to speak In this forum

It means you have bad judgement and zero perception nate.

Some with much keener perception that you, were able to read their own people, they understood the mood of the people and the dire situation the D.C corrupt have put the country into. Their insiders, influence peddlers, the donor class, lobbyist and their well connected wealthy associates had to go. A small number of folks were able to see this corrupt business as usual was all going to collapse. We knew one way or another this was all coming to an abrupt end for the corrupt frauds in D.C. and Trump was the man to do it.

You either didn't give a sh*t, wanted to keep it business as usual, or ya had no clue. I'd guess you never had a clue.

Trump didn’t lose the popular election unless you wish to include the votes of illegal aliens, ‘rats who voted multiple times, and those who crawled up out of their coffins and voted. What stage of remorse are you now in over the skank getting her fat ass whipped?

MAGA.

Scrap the Russia sanctions IMMEDIATELY and form an alliance with Putin to contain (encircle) China, crush radical Islam, and demolish globalism and globalist institutions everywhere.

(NOTE: India may be key to both China and Islam strategies also, along with a few other novel alliances.)

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR GREAT NEW POTUS!
