By its very doctrines, Islam prohibits reform.
At best, any person who claims to be Muslim but disavows violence has an inconsistent and incoherent worldview; the more accurate explanation is that they are following taqqiya. Shiites especially are quite fond of taqqiya, while Sunnis are more likely to not bother hiding how they want non-Muslims to be subjugated or killed.
There are basically two reasonable approaches in dealing with the Middle East: destroy Mecca (causes a systematic collapse of Islam), or glass the entire Middle East (many argue that the destruction of Mecca would cause the adherents of Islam to simply establish a new violent cult).

Islam needs to be eradicated.
There is no reform.

Watch them like a hawk, monitor mosques. Come down hard on those that break the law. Eventually the fanatics will be marginalized.

I love Mr. Trump but I doubt he can do that. Reform must come from within.
True, but even without a reformed culture they will be a lot less troublesome once enough of the warrior genes in their gene pool have been eradicated. Much like WWI and WWII turned European males into the wusses they are today. Gonna take a lot of dead muslims to bring that about though.

Sure he can, the Mongols did. Hulagu “Chuckles” Khan built a pyramid for the citizens of Baghdad. Out of human skulls. Reformed the local terrorists, too, the Assassins, under Imam Rukn al-Din Khurshah. Reformed them so well there weren’t any survivors.
To: Kaslin
Only Islam can reform itself! Until such time as there is a "New Testament" developed within their beliefs, their "True Believers" must, of necessity, be mired in the 7th Century and reflect the barbaric admonitions of an evidently, charismatic monster (Guess Who)!

Enough A-10, B-2, and B-52 encouragement would push Islam toward reform. The Muslims who want to live their own lives just have to fear us more than they fear the terrorists of ISIS and of their governments.

No. He can push it towards lethargy but not reform.Jihad will go into hibernation when the imams and the rulers have lost their access to the material assets to continue it a la the first half of the 20th century. Islamic society must have enough to support a tiny ruling class in splendour and the 99% at bare subsistence. Any more than that fuels jihad. Mohammedan societies do not produce beyond that minimum amount in part because the Sultan or the Dey or Bey or the Sheik or King takes all the rest. It is not useful for people to produce more than enough to survive. Jihad is fueled by conquest and war booty, piracy and extortion of infidel nations. In the mid 20th century it gained an unaccustomed source of the necessary funds for Jihad when the West turned over the oil fields and the profit therefrom to the saracens. For three quarters of a century Turkiye was an exception to the rule but it is relapsing. The middle class that grew up there is resisting but will subside into subsistence level as Turkiye Islamizes. And Turkish Islam was
not reformed, it was bypassed for a time with a now evanescent secularism..
how it is
To: I want the USA back
Nope.
Islam can (and has previously been) knocked back to the stone age, but it doesn’t reform.
It would be possible to destroy Islam outright, but I do not expect us to do so. It will happen before the end times, and my guess is that India will do it.

Islam cannot be reformed. Small portions of it can become other religions but they will be walled off from Islam and will not affect things any. The Alewites are one such. Sikhs and Sufis are others. There are actually a umber of sects in the ME but they live under the protection of secular rulers like Assad who need them for their power base or in the non Moslem jurisdiction of Israel.
To: miss marmelstein
IMHO you cannot reform a religion. The founder has laid out the religion. He can’t come back from the dead and change it. You either follow it, all of it, or you convert.
