President-elect Donald Trump met Monday with former Vice President Al Gore and discussed climate change, as the two men with opposing views of the issue sought common ground.
After the meeting at Trump Tower in Manhattan, Mr. Gore gave an upbeat assessment of the powwow. "I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground," he told reporters in the lobby.
The high-profile meeting raised eyebrows because President-elect Donald Trump has been an outspoken skeptic of climate change and Mr. Gore is one of the world's most prominent advocates for battling climate change, receiving a Nobel Prize in 2007 for the effort.
During the campaign, Mr. Trump raised doubts about the climate change issue and once mused that it was a hoax by China to encourage the U.S. to adopt energy restrictions that would harm the economy.
Mr. Trump also has said he will consider pulling the U.S. out of the international agreement on climate change that was struck in Paris in 2015.
Earlier in the day, transition team officials said Mr. Gore would be meeting with Mr. Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump. But Mr. Gore said that after a brief meeting with Ms. Trump, he spent the bulk of his time with the president-elect.
"I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that," said Mr. Gore, who was the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee.

The Climate Change treaty KILLS JOBS ... Trump must be careful playing with this fire.
Unless Trump asked Gore to stop with the BS, what could they have to talk about?
Climate change be damned.
Al Gore is a loser and a coward who put the nation through hell in 2000 as he attempted to subvert democracy and the law.
His opinion is unworthy of an audience, especially the current president elect’s.
I’ve only seen the second quote, nothing about “common ground” from him in the lobby - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vInLBBsNwHI
Thankfully, he didn't say it was a good or enjoyable meeting.
Its pure divide and conquer...that belt Dems vs. white working class Dems.
Thanks Al. We’ll take it from here.
He never said that, and this again is the media trying to make Trumps base turn against him.
This is the second article today I have seen posted on here which is false, or the media has spun this to suit themselves and turn us against each other.

More chess.
“I met with the foremost “climate change” spokesperson. We discussed the matter at length. He was unable to convince me that we should allow unfounded alarmist positions to continue harming US business interests.”
Mic drop.
nothing will delegitimize Trump faster than taking fools like Al Gore seriously...
What if Trump wants to use Left support for Border Taxes to fight greenhouse emissions from Chinese production in order to win Border Taxes on Chinese production that will make those imports less economically competitive?
Trump is thinking of using Gore as a Christmas float?
“Sorry Al, we don’t have any openings for ManBearPigs at this time”.
Note no comment from Trump. So Gore blathered, Trump said, “Good to meet you. Thanks for coming.”
“It was a sincere search for areas of common ground,”
Which could mean Trump listened to Gore’s side of the issue and then Trump told him his.
This is a nothing burger.
Common Ground:
Two men come together and both understand that the gig is up on the global warming lies, and the billions raised fraudulently.
Gore should be prosecuted for perpetrating a fraud.
There are a lot of folk who should be listed as accessories.
