I made all our gifts to family and friends that year. I took our old ornaments and filled up a bucket of water and sprayed paint on the water. I dipped our old rusty ornaments in the water and when they were lifted out they were beautiful. It was as if they were sprinkled with fresh snow.

I found slate rock down by the Ohio River. I burnt old Christmas Card picture edges and then glossy glued them onto the slate. People loved their gift.
