California and Trump are on a collision course over immigrants here illegally
The Los Angeles Times ^ | November 12th, 2016 | Makeda Easter and Dakota SmithContact Reporter

California is quickly becoming a battleground for immigration policy as a cross-section of leaders across the state vowed to fight any plans by President-elect Donald Trump to deport thousands of people in the U.S. illegally.

Trump said during the presidential campaign that he’ll build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and deport people in the country illegally. He is expected to unwind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, an initiative by President Obama that protects immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

California has some of the nation’s most liberal policies when it comes to handling immigrants here illegally. The state has allowed them to get driver’s licenses, health coverage for children and in-state tuition. Institutions like churches also support immigrants.

But the Golden State could be on a collision course with Trump if he pushes hard-line immigration policies enthusiastically backed by many of his supporters.

Please secede Cali. Hillary can be your ruler. We will build the wall along the north and eastern border of Cali. The border between Cali and Mexico will remain wide open. The illegals and refugees can pour through and be welcomed by the good hearted liberals with open arms. Everybody is happy. It's a win. Besides, without Cali Trump wins the popular vote by at least 2 million

Why is “aliens” not P.C. anymore? E.T. was an alien and he was beloved. Superman too.

Indeed. It is going to be nice seeing an adult back in the White House, one who will punish the unruly children instead of spoiling them.

Praise the Lord for the miracle that got Trump elected.

Eisenhower federalized the national guard to enforce the law in Alabama. Trump could federalize the national guard in California to remove criminal illegal aliens.

When on disaster assignment in Alabama, I ran into a contingent of North Carolina National guard called to Alabama to quiet the disturbances in Tuskegee. Their HQ was the air field from which the Red Tails trained

Like the inner city areas California is essentially irrelevant politically because of its one-party nature. Trump (and the GOP) have nothing to loose and everything to gain from reshuffling the cards in the Golden State and elsewhere.

Illegal immigrants will NEVER be conservative or vote GOP. Throw them out- there is ZERO downside to taking a hard line.

No doubt... I make sure those I employ are legal and ask for proof whenever someone new shows up on the job. My favorite general contractor told his (legal) Hispanic workers they’d be out of a job if they took the day off to march in some ‘support illegals’ protest years ago. One of the workers was a bit upset, the other said ‘I left Mexico, why would I want to turn California into that sh!thole?’

“That’s another thing that needs fixing. Anchor babies”

Citizenship made up out of thin air by democrats. It needs to be ignored.

How did they ever get issued birth certificates? Every demoncrat politician that was involved in this scam needs to be prosecuted.

The supreme court has no constitutional authority to render judgment with respect the constitutionality of federal law. It's merely an asserted right, which is afforded custom & courtesy by the other two branches.

Rather, law that conflicts with the (implied) meaning of the constitution was intended to be resolved in the respective states via the 10th. As such, the SC have no constitutional right to opine on the meaning of the 14th.

In other words, anchor babies claiming legal status under the 14th as interpreted by the SC have no standing as to constitutional basis.

It will be interesting to see how far Trump wants to take this. He can literally ignore the SC on their infringement, and dare Congress to impeach him for "actually following the constitution" while he deports anchor babies and illegals alike.

Day 01: A Federal sweep to arrest all persons involved with disregarding Federal law on immigration.

California may find they new a new election the next day to fill the missing government positions.

“remember correctly, the DOJ sued Arizona, and won, on the principal that the Federal government has exclusive dominion of immigration law.”

HAha, this will backfire on them now that Trump is president!

Hey, Jim Robinson, myself and many other good Freepers live in CA.

Perhaps we here in California need to replace the illegals with out off state conservative residents.

On the other hand traffic wise it better just to deport and not import.

So yeah its 79 degrees as I right this and beautiful. Less people, lower taxes would be moving in the right direction.

California is headed for a discussion that will not be in the language of political correctness and thus free from liberal intimidation and mind control via word policing. Its also not going to really be a discussion more of an executive order.

What you don’t know is that most of the eastern half of CA is fairly conservative; many Central Valley and eastern counties went for Trump. Plus, much of the nicest geography in CA is in the East; Yosemite, the Sierra Nevada, all the good skiing, Modoc country with Mt. Lassen.

Go look at the electoral map and you’ll have a better visual for a proper Right Of Way for that wall of yours.

Hey! Imagine how much more water California will have to share among its legal citizens once it kicks out illegal aliens and their families.

Not to mention overcrowded hospitals, schools, highways, and pubs. I say pubs, because, well, I like pubs!
