New Rules in These States Are Frustrating Voters

WISCONSIN

This is the first presidential election in Wisconsin in which voters will be asked for photo identification. The voter ID law was initially blocked by the courts, and then went into effect for the presidential primary in April. In July, a federal judge left the voter ID requirement in place but struck down more than a dozen other election changes, including limits on early voting hours and locations.

As many as 300,000 Wisconsin voters may not have the required photo ID. In recent weeks, recordings by voter advocacy groups have shown state DMV workers giving people inaccurate information about what they can do to obtain alternative voting credentials if they lack a photo ID. A federal judge in October ordered the state to clarify the process and produce a simple, one-page handout that can be distributed in person and online.

I have lived here 30 years, and the people have been trying to pass Photo Voter ID during all that time. It’s been passed and blocked by the Democrats repeatedly on one bogus allegation after another.

You can’t do anything in WI from going to the Y, to the hospital, to the library, etc. without being asked to show a photo ID. Why should voting be any different?

Is Wisconsin still doing voting day registration?

Yes, we are. I'd love to see that struck down.

You ask good questions....the state of Texas made these rules..you would have to ask them...do not assume these people are on welfare. Many are working poor..they do not ask for assistance. And I agree...they should have an ID program available.

If they are "working poor" they should have an ID anyway. You pretty much have to have an ID to be legally employed these days. I know I had to provide identification last time I changed jobs. Personally, I suspect just about anyone without a valid ID is an illegal or other criminal. They should be required to provide proof of residence, birth certificate, and a social security card to vote. The names on all 3 should also be the same.

Boo Hoo!

The President of the Unite States is openly inviting foreigners to vote in our elections. Get over it!

If the government is so concerned then why dont they have an ID program in place for people?

Texas does have a voter ID program. You can go to the DPS office (who issues drivers licenses) and get one for free.

Alternative credentials my @ss...you have time to get "alternative credentials," but don't have time to get a photo ID?

This reeks.

Get the F%#$ing ID, or don't vote.

Well, apparently you never tried to get a photo ID for a dead guy. It's not so easy. Note very photogenic. You just can't get them to say "cheese".

You think YOUR driver's license photo is bad?

Chicago seems to be a major focal point for fraud of all sorts. The bus lines run lots of extra buses between Chicago and Minnesota on the days when Minnesota hands out welfare checks.

you are right but the state of Texas considers their electricity bills, etc...other bills, proof of residence. I do not ask them why they do not have photo id....I do not ever want to make them feel uncomfortable..I have a translator with me ..he is very kind and personable and good at what he does..we provide transportation also so they need to trust us. I do not want to intimidate them. If they are illegal, for the most part they will not even answer the door. The working poor work two to four jobs and would never ask for any kind of assistance. Hence, one of the reasons they do not have id...they would have to have it then

Basically, all this tells me is that the state does not care at all about validating voters.
