I will say there were way too many Republican candidates running for the nomination.
They need no more than three.
If that were to happen, the establishment would have given us Kasich, Bush, or Graham to choose from. No rules where the establishment decides for us.

The way to fix this is to strictly prohibit unused campaign funds from belonging to the candidate if they fail. I am firmly convinced that most of the candidates raise money knowing that they will not win. But their main goal is to walk away with a nice retirement nest egg of a few million bucks.
