Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans said the two officers wounded in a shootout in East Boston Wednesday night are out of surgery, but remain in extremely critical condition. (snip) The commissioner identified the suspect as Kirk Figueroa, 33. A Ford Crown Victoria with the name of a website, Elite Policing.org, was towed from the scene by police Thursday morning.
(Note: Figeroa was killed.)
On the website, a man who identifies himself as Kirk Figueroa describes himself as a former member of a US Army Reserves military police unit who works as a bounty hunter in California, is trained in mixed martial arts and has worked as both a home health care aide and a corrections officer.
Wearing a red beret in a photo of himself, the man identified as Kirk Figueroa also claimed to be a constable in the city of Boston.
According to City Council minutes, Figueroa was approved to be a constable by the council in April 13 following a background investigation by Boston police. He was one of several whose nomination was approved on a voice vote as a constable, who are authorized to serve legal papers connected to civil litigation.
Separately, Evans said police are now trying to learn what prompted Figueroa to put on a bullet proof vest and open fire with an assault rifle and handgun on police as they responded to investigate a fight between roommates.
He said a suspect - now identified as Figueroa - armed with an assault rifle and a ballistic vest fired at police, striking the two officers, and their fellow officers moved them to safety and returned fire, killing the heavily armed man.

Don't Black Panthers wear berets? I seem to remember some at a Philly polling place in 2008.
God, watch over these two officers and bring them back to good health. Be with their families as well in this very difficult time. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
It's high time to call them out as"BLM Terrorists!"
“Don’t Black Panthers wear berets? I seem to remember some at a Philly polling place in 2008.”
The Black Panthers seem to wear, understandably, black berets.
I haven’t been able to find a better image to be able to read the badge. Unless it was purely a fashion statement, it would seem logical that the badge would be something of significance to him.
So these are more of a raspberry beret, you know the kind you find in a secondhand store?
Ch 5 Boston now reporting he had 5 aliases and talked of “Islamic rebirth in Africa”.
Mr Figeroa will not be down for breakfast.
