It does seem a bit bizarre but does explain why so many cat owners are Rats.

The main problem is that people, especially women who are afraid to love because of bad relationships... not just partner but usually parental as well, tend to humanize animals as if you give them food, water and shelter they give you what appears to be unconditional love. (Their love is actually very conditional upon you caring for them.)
