... My goal here is to simply explain what white privilege is and to demonstrate that discrimination against black people, both on a small scale and more importantly on a systematic and often-unconscious level, is still a huge issue...
Lets start with job discrimination. A study published by John Nunley, Nicholas Romero, Richard Seals and Adam Pugh for the Auburn University Department of Economics found that job applicants with black sounding names were a whopping 16 percent less likely to get called in to interview for a job than their white counterparts, even when their resumes were otherwise identical.
Housing discrimination is also an issue. A new report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development found that when searching for a new home to rent, black people are shown 17 percent fewer available homes than white people.
The biggest issue is the hugely disproportionate numbers of black citizens (especially black males) who are currently incarcerated. According to the Bureau of Justice, in 2009 black people accounted for 39.4 percent of the prison population while whites accounted for only 34 percent. Blacks make up only 12.3 percent of the American population while whites make up a 63 percent. This means that the incarceration rate for black people is over six times higher than that of white people...

We need special words to adequately describe the worthlessness of the author’s degree and the first grade education that preceeded it.
As such, only one job will fit the low IQ troll: civil service.
I have always thought that ghetto names and prison are linked.
Culture, not color.
Behavior has consequences.
A self-identified culture that promotes self-destructive behavior tends to self-destruct, and another culture that flourishes may understandably not want to associate with destructive behavior.
Such shallow intellect, simplistic reasoning.
By this reasoning the prison system is sexist too. 90% of the people in prison are men. Women should be demanding this be equalized!!
Part of what makes these people so hilarious is their lack of what used to be called a “well-rounded liberal education.”
Had they been exposed to Kipling’s “The White Man’s Burden,” they would realize how dangerously close they are to repeating his thesis.
Correlation is not causation.
Surprise! No mention of endemic black criminality.
Pseudo statistics like that keep going out without saying “Normalized for income level and work experience etc.”
How about we also tried “Normalized for penchant to listen to rap?” If black people wallow in depictions of themselves as bad and hopeless and desperate, they should beware the self fulfilling prophecy.
Daughter and I flew United to DC several years ago.
Sitting toward the rear of the plane, on the way out we looked into the flight deck and chatted briefly with the pilots. The F/O was black, and very engaging. It occurred to me that unless he had his hours and qualifications, he wouldn’t be there.
That he had in fact, met his FAA requirements was just fine with me, and we were glad to have flown with him, and would have done so without qualification on the way back. It was never an issue.
He’s likely Captain these days.
What a pleasant relief from these stupid and stupider days.
Kipling was fine as an empirical observation. That’s how things shook out in his age.
I sure hope nobody regards it as a moral imperative.
This is less proof of white privilege than evidence of black victim-signalling.
If the percentage of blacks in prison vastly exceeds the proportion of blacks in the overall population, could it be because the percentage of imprisonable crimes commited by blacks is proprtionally higher? If that’s the case, wouldn’t it be black privilege if the number of blacks convicted was proportionally less, thereby evidencing favor in the sentencing of blacks versus whites for the same crime?
A greater proportion of the black population is criminal compared to the white population. It follows that blacks will be incarcerated in numbers proportionate to their criminality, not their occurrence in the sample pool.
By all means we need more Bonnies to our Clydes. /joke!
Meanwhile, black students and their liberal professor advocates and agitators are clamoring for segregated safe places on campuses.
Obviously they don’t want to stop being victims because their victim-hood is now allowing them to oppress everyone else.
Hope you’re well, thoughtomator.

Ultimately “it’s a culture issue.”
As a pale face, I quite agree with the official sentiments about the n-word. It’s demeaning, it hailed from the slave days. Its connotation is why later, more free-thinking authors came up with alternative terms like “darkie.” So by all means dear brothers and sisters of more melanin, would you please stop doing it to each other too? Such a mind set turns you into something closer to beasts. You’d sure expect similar results from the pale face set if they kept on calling each other trashy crackers and constantly snickered and chuckled about it. (Happily they don’t. We’re just rednecks.)
False premise of ‘racism’ and in turn ‘white privilege’
I read it as a warning to the United States.
There IS racism going on. We don’t call them out as members of the HUMAN race for wallowing in n double-g racism towards one another. Both white AND black people are falling down here.
maybe
Some random observation about Asian Americans: a number of them name their children with very WASPy first names. E.g. Huntington Ching, Farnsworth Zheng, etc.
