THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
IRVING BERLIN
ALL BY MYSELFIn 1983, in this Evening at Pops episode, Steve Lawrence sang, backed by John Williams and the Boston Pops. He put his own brand on this classic.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
IRVING BERLIN
LAZYThis 1924 song was introduced to the world by a belter even though electric recording had made it possible for a crooner to sing it. Note that Irving was still working in the intro-and-chorus format from a few decades earlier. Also note that the bass lines were still played on a tuba.

LAZYThis tune was not ignored during the Big Band era. It was used in Holiday Inn, the 1942 film that introduced White Christmas to the world. Note that the intro has been forgotten.
