This is not without historical precedent. In 1972, an elector from VA, cast his electoral votes for the Libertarian candidates, John Hospers and Tonie Nathan, instead of Richard Nixon. As a result Nathan became the first woman in our history to receive an electoral vote. MacBride went on to become the Libertarian nominee for President in 1976.
