One of my part-time coastal neighbors is an engineer at Intel in Hillsboro. He says the atmosphere there these days is horrible. They’ve already laid off hundreds, and they’re re-evaluating how many more cuts they’re going to have to make at that campus. The bloodletting should be completed by the end of this month. He’s worried about his own job, with two kids to put through college.
I worked at Intel for 25 years and spent 10 of them in Portland.
Some of my best friends were either thrown under the bus or took early retirement since they got tired of dealing with the crap.
It is sad to see one of America’s finest companies being destroyed by demands for diversity and political power struggles.
