I don't think that's true!
There were example of Greek hoplite phalanxes defeating cavalry.(When you add in the Macedonians even more so! Someone else can now argue if the Macedonians were actually Greek!) The Roman legions usually did OK, unless up against a enemy commander like Hannibal or they were led by fools. (Sometimes both things occurred!)

Braveheart though a fun movie is historically very “problematic” in it's presentation.

As my wife would say “It's a movie!”
