Trump calls scolding by Newt Gingrich 'inappropriate'

Donald Trump said Monday it was "inappropriate" for Newt Gingrich to demand he drop the subject of an American judge's ethnicity and start acting like "a potential leader of the United States." But Trump let stand widespread scolding from other Republican leaders who want him to lay off the jurist — a sign that the GOP presidential candidate doesn't want to blow up the fragile truce he has struck with the party establishment.

Trump insisted that his comments about the judge came in defense against relentless questions from reporters and others about lawsuits against Trump University. Trump said U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel can't be impartial in the suits because his parents were born in Mexico and Trump wants to build a wall along the border.

Curiel is a former federal prosecutor who was born in Indiana to parents who came from Mexico in the 1920s. He has not responded to Trump's attack, and Trump's legal team has not sought his removal from the case. Judges generally are thought to have conflicts of interest only in more specific situations, such as a financial interest in the outcome of the case.

Nonetheless, Trump says the public discussion about Trump University requires a response.

The problem with Newt is that he is the smartest guy in DC but he doesn’t try to hide it. :-)

Only the politically correct can not stuff TRUMP in their PC box. Obviously, it’s driving them nuts. You have been possibly listening to Joe Scarborough?

That is Joe’s take. Morning Joe has gone into Hillary-assist mode, until the last segment of the show, when they or their guest resume with why TRUMP is a savant.

It’s so transparent that they are on prop-up Hillary assignment at the moment, but redeem TRUMP now in the last segment.

ABSOLUTELY! Newt may be sitting on “pout”. TRUMP is in charge of what he means and is sticking it to the politically correct.

Newt was supporting the PC take and TRUMP answered him.

Newt got the heat.

Maybe even more will come out on Judge La Raza. Glad you’re getting the San Diego opinion on Judge Too Cool for School.

Do you expect to be there this summer?

Politicians use the media to admonish. In the business world you can take your suggestion up the chain of management or complaint to HR.

Newt, like all pols is in it for him. Wants to see if there is someone Trump would respond too. I agree with others, Newt should have told him in a private conversation. Proves Newt is not a Team player.

Let’s see now:

The MSM says that Trump is racist for his remarks about the Mexican judge and says there is no place in the United States for noticing the judge’s ethnicity. We, as Americans, don’t actually notice things like that.

Then the MSM will say that Trump has a problem with Hispanic voters — thereby taking note of a group’s ethnicity.

Why is it wrong for Trump to notice a person’s ethnicity, but not for the MSM?

I have only seen a ‘potential VP list’ from the media and from a few others...are we listening to the media now?

I’m waiting for Trump, at the Republican Convention in July to announce who his V.P. is going to be, until then, who ever or what ever says any different, they are having pipe dreams...

Remember, Trump is the head of his campaign, he has people there to find things, to listen to, but at the end of the day, Trump is Trump and he is the only one that makes any decisions...

There are two schools of thougtht here. Gingrich is either part of the team (he and Trump and Trump's team exchange MANY emails every day)...or Gingrich is a loose cannon who is killing any chance he might have in a Trump adamistration.

Bears watching. If Newt is part of the team, and now if he were to "discover" information that the corrupt judge is truly corrupt, as Trump has implied, then Newt can publicly reverse his opinion based on this discovery, and force the media to cover the details.

"Oops, Trump was right again." ... which we already know, the media already knows, and most sentient humans already know.

He should have discussed it with Trump first - might have changed his mind on how to adjust his own rhetoric....

3rd explanation: Gingrich was put on the spot by the question and answered it honestly. Trump can’t handle the criticism. Simplistic explanation... And I’m voting for Trump because Hillary is worse.
