I’d like to see some of these thugs end up dead.

Sucker punching someone because you don’t like that person’s politics is unacceptable; I wouldn’t even do it to an Obama voter, and those people are pure evil. But shooting someone who throws the sucker punch (at you or at another person) is a good deed, It’s also legal if you reasonably believe it is necessary to stop an immediate threat to someone who did not initiate the violence.
