I want all products and services to be available in the US. However, I believe a tariff is a reasonable way to fund government and it encourages US made goods and services.
Penalizing income declaration guarantees some income is no longer available for the earner. However, tariffs do nothing to penalize one’s own efforts, but it would place a penalty on foreign purchases. If you don’t want to pay government a dime, you can work to your heart’s content and keep all your money for yourself by not buying foreign goods and services.
If it’s still worth it to buy foreign goods, you can, but you now help fund the government. Other countries do this to us, already, so why not do so in return?
You and I have reached this point before. We are much closer in practice then we are rhetorically. Once we have at about a 100 posts that is. We need to have a drink someday.
Mostly agree with you. A flat sales tax on all imported goods with no exceptions would be the right way to do this. But that is not what is beimg discussed. Wha is being discussed is targeted taxes for favored industries.
Once Hillary vanquishes coal from our country will be it alright for domestic steel makers to import Chinese coke with paying the vig?
I have yet to hear how we can tax our way to a revival of manufacturing jobs. I have yet hear why we not enable domestic manufacturers with low regulation and taxes and freedom from lawauits as a way of competing imstead of enablimg the same clowns who created the sitution in in the first place with more money and more power.
And no one is forcing you to buy health insurance either. You can always just pay the tax. And if you dont want your health insurance to cover abortions why you can just not buy health insurance. No one is forcing you to do amything.
You are arguing whether we should start the IV before applying the tourniquet. APPLY THE TOURNIQUET NOW!
Cant apply a tourniquet while someone is still taking a knife to you. Get rid of the knife wielding assailant, then the tourniquet makes more sense to me.
This is not the dumbest idea I've heard this year, but that's only because I lurk on HuffPo.
Why not require that imported goods be manufactured under the whole wet blanket.....EPA, OSHA, EEOC, unions, Obamacare, you name it.
A great way to drive not only the USA, but the whole damn world back into poverty.
