Here is a cup with hemlock in it; another with arsenic. Which will you 'choose' to drink?In your example, there are really only two choices: to die or to live. Most people would choose to continue to live.
Your scenario would only work if both candidates were the same and the 'not voting' choice would maintain the status quo. That is not what would happen in this election.
