INDIANAPOLIS Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is ending his campaign after suffering a devastating loss to frontrunner Donald Trump in the Indiana primary, campaign manager Jeff Roe told the Texas Tribune.
With about 43 percent of the vote in, Trump was projected to beat Cruz by about 2o points, 54 percent to 35 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who had struck a deal with Cruz to effectively concede the Hoosier State, was winning less than 10 percent of the vote.
Trump was on track to win most if not all of Indiana's 57 delegates, significantly easing his path to the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the Republican National Convention. Eyeing a contested convention, Cruz has vowed to stay in the race regardless of the outcome in the Hoosier State.
Minutes after major TV networks projected Trump's victory, he renewed his call for Cruz to leave the race.
"Lyin' Ted Cruz consistently said that he will, and must, win Indiana," Trump tweeted. "If he doesn't he should drop out of the race-stop wasting time & money."
Cruz went all in on Indiana, recognizing its importance in holding Trump under the 1,237-delegate threshold. In addition to teaming up with Kasich, Cruz took the unusual step of naming former rival Carly Fiorina his running mate. He also had the backing of Gov. Mike Pence, an initially tepid endorsement that Pence sought to fortify in the final days before the primary.
Cruz is now left with a narrower path than ever to the nomination, entirely dependent on denying Trump 1,237 delegates. Cruzs loss in Indiana is likely to give rise to calls for him to drop out of the race, something he has said he will not do as long as he still sees a path to victory in Cleveland.
Cruzs campaign indicated Tuesday afternoon he was not immediately leaving the race, announcing rallies Wednesday in Nebraska and Washington. For weeks, Cruz has said the race will come down to the primary June 7 in California, whose 172 delegates make it the biggest prize of the nominating process.
“ooh, ooh, Ive been here a hell of a lot longer than you!”
Hahaha...another Trumpertantrum. I love it!!
***ve been on FR much longer than you so maybe you should leave***
Pss, don’t tell anyone, maybe you should look closer, I have you by 3 years.
Well, we all have our own opinions....
Thank you...Your vote will be appreciated... :o)
You’re the one throwing around all the insults. You even told a guy to kiss your ass! Should you be treated like a baby tonight because Cruz lost or something?
Why don’t you just gather up all your marbles tonight, go lay in a corner and lick yer nuts for a while. You’re just an embarrassment at this point.

“You misunderstood. I gave you a link to start with in case you hadnt heard about his post.”
I believe your implication was that dissent won’t be tolerated and if I don’t support Trump then I should leave or will be banned. I’m tired of Trump supporters hiding behind that crap because they can’t have a honest debate. It isn’t the place of a NOOB to threaten to ban anyone on FR.
“You keep posting like you are and you will get banned.”
All I originally said is that it is a sad day because Hillary just won the election. I don’t want Hillary or Trump and I will never support either. I want a conservative, but we don’t always get what we want.
Cruz, despite his faults, is definitely not liberal. Trump is and that is why I can’t support him. Do I want the male or female liberal??? Neither!!
Youve got some thin skin. Are you really a Texan?

Not answering for him. But over the last few months I got extremely uncomfortable from the garbage and vile crap the trump followers throw out here. So uncomfortable that I went and erased my bio.
In it you would have seen that I also was a socal resident. For 34 years. Was on FR since near day 1. I think socal was part of my tag. Went on many FR outings and immensely enjoyed the people and company. Have met and spent a few minutes talking to the elder Jim Robinson. I think the names are the same. Used FR many times for help. But now I would be afraid to ask because of the vitriol I might receive because I don’t believe in trump. I’ve come to understand that beliefs like that are not tolerated here. It has become a sorry state (did not say site) but I’m going to hang around till I see who he picks for VP.
Oh, and if my bio was still there it would have said that I retired to Texas 10 years ago and love every minute of it here.
“Pss, dont tell anyone, maybe you should look closer, I have you by 3 years.”
I have an older profile that is from 1998, but we won’t go into that right now...

Uh huh. Nice try. Go sleep it off.
Ted Cruz never had a chance to win. Most of the country will not vote for someone so blatantly hyper religious who wants a theocracy. That is not America. If that’s what you want move to Saudi Arabia or almost any place in the Middle East
Well, he did drop out, and his donors already said they were pulling out because it was pretty clear he was going to lose Indiana.
Trump is now the Republican candidate for the President of the United States of America. Who he will be contending with from the Democratic side, is unsure. He is assuming Hillary actually it is more hope than assumptions. No one is sure. In the background, the Trump street is fighting, and has been fighting, and many are seasoned, and some are new, all are tough, and vicious.
Soon will be California. The Trump people, the street people and the workers, are already in California. Here is where there will be vicious battles. To come. Tonight, though, a bit of a rest for the Trumpsters.
I predict, out there, is the nut. It might be an Islamist. It might be some crazed Becker. It might be some lunatic and violent far leftist. It might be all three who might even know each other. I predict before November, a terrorist attack. But no one is going to get Trump after this point forward. Nor Hillary, nor Bernie.
Now the real election will soon begin. The first game plans are no longer needed. Vicious as it seemed, you havent seen anything yet. But there is one concern. Those cultists involved with the Cruzbot wing who may be listening to folks like Glenn Beck, or Mark Levin, who take this dangerous mix of politics and religion too seriously. There is nothing more dangerous. No one needs another Jonestown.
I am in California. We are going to take it to Hillary or anyone. There are a lot of “Trumpsters” here.
As for Ted Cruz, he gave a good speech tonight. So now a shift in focus. Sure, I will send over $200 dollars to Cruz to, for what it’s worth, help pay for some of the expenses. Now it is good - to refocus on the Democrats.
I hope to see Giuliani, more action from Christie, just my opinion. As far as who will be the VP choice, that will be the next big news event. I have no idea. But I saw some suggest Rubio - if Trumps wants to do that, he knows what he is doing and fine. But Rubio isn’t my first choice. But really, whoever Trump wants is ok by me. Well - to a limit.
Time to rest and have a nice milk shake!
“Grow up”, that’s what Goldwater said in 1960 at the Chicago convention that affirmed the Nixon-Lodge ticket. He told them to go to work to elect Nixon and then to re-take control of the party, which nominated him 1964 but with no chance of election.
Im sorry...I havent seen where he said he didnt need anyone...Where was this???

He said it this afternoon. I think his near exact words were “I don’t need a united party”. That exactly means he does not need my vote.
And you say we don’t listen.
I just went back at looked at your posting history over the past few months. You were TOTALLY WRONG about Trump's chances in the earlier primaries and your prediction about Hillary winning will be just as wrong. Go ahead and write-in your Cubanadian if it makes you feel better. It won't stop Trump from becoming the 44th President of the United States of America.
Years later, Goldwater, who voted for Nixon three times, called him “the most dishonest man I ever met”. Republicans have a tremendous history, but it is often a history of defeat after defeat.
Don’t write in: most states don’t even tabulate them. It is a totally worthless gesture.

Now it’s Lyin’ Duke! Just kidding, I believe you.
Actually Duke, I was mimicking you and your comment. But since you’re picking fights with multiple members, I see how you’re not keeping up. I really couldn’t care less how long you have been here, it means nothing to me.
FWIW, if you think Trump can’t beat Clinton, then please include yourself with all the others that have underestimated Trump. He is going to steamroll her. He’s against political correctness in a big way. Watch what happens when he takes the gloves off with her and her skeletons.
