If Cruz spoils the overarching goal, he's finished as a force in the party.

I'd rather see the GOP, the Republican party, finished as a force.

The current Republican Party needs to "wander the desert" for 40 years until the current leadership passes on and a new generation raised on new rules grows up.

Or, take over the top position and force change downward.

Cruz can lead the desert parade.
