Breaking: Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot

A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate over time.

The official stated Mr. Trump is interested in using Sen. Cruz’s ground game in the general election, likes his appeal to the conservative base and his stance on immigration. Of the other options for VP none hold as strong of an opinion on immigration outside of Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona who is also being considered.

Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president. Mr. Trump does not see this as an issue and a small price to pay to bring Sen. Cruz his fundraisers, donors and staff on board

Good point. What electoral votes does Cruz bring that Trump doesn’t already have?

Conservatives and Christians who have serious misgivings about Trumps known liberal comments, associations and affiliations.

Cruz’ Constitutional “expertise” is nil, since he thinks a kid born to a foreign national father in a foreign country is a natural born citizen. Or that he’s so speshul it’s okay he’s not NBC.

Actually there is a conversation he is quoted as having wherein he described a NBC as “born on US soil to two citizen parents”, in 2012.

He should fade into obscurity.

There was something about Cruz dissing Trump in some private meeting and someone made a record of it.

Was that before that debate?

If something happens to the president, that’s the vp real purpose.

No freaking way should or will Cruz get that position.

“A qualified black conservative woman would shut a lot of people up.”

No it wouldn’t. The left would be more hysterical about this than a qualified white conservative man. Remember the Thomas hearings. Pubic hair on the coke can? Angela Davis?

And Cruz shaking hands behind Trump’s back at the debate was really telling. What was that in your face about I have to ask? It was a taunting and deliberate smack to Donald. I’ll never forget Donald’s face.

You know Ted going back to the senate isn’t such a bad thing. Perhaps he can garner more respect now and we need conservative voices in there and we need more spines in the GOP.
Whatever.. he’s got a role to play in conservatism wherever he serves.

The biggest task is to stop the corrupt GOPe from a brokered convention. That would be a disaster.

Continued fracturization, fighting and negative ads can only hurt going forwards in the general election.

Do it!!

After they win, and clean up the senate and kiss and make up with the remaining senate, Cruz can always be nominated for the Supreme Court. (currently he is hated in the senate and would not be accepted).

But right now Trump has to defeat the Republican Anti-Trump campaign.

I don't put any stock in this unsubstantiated report from such an obscure source but I think the time has come for Cruz to make some kind of deal with Trump. I don't think it can involve the VP slot as the citizenship issue hasn't been settled yet and Trump would be hypocritical in selecting him at this point. However, Supreme Court Justice or some other high level position is definitely something Cruz can bargain for.

If that happened, it would definitely explode a bunch of establishment heads.

” ... how would Trump square this with voters after he accused Ted of bad things.”

Politics ain’t beanbag.

Many of us have argued long and hard here that Cruz is ineligible under Article 2, Section 1, clause 5.
And we’ve done this believing that Obama is an usurper and ineligible.

I think Trump has enough sand—and is, uh, flexible enough—so that he might just say,
`Screw it. He’s my VP. If you don’t like it, sue us.’
If Cruz is determined to be ineligible, he does something else.
That’s how he cuts the knot.

I agree. Put Ted where he can use his strengths and that is Supreme Court. He can be very successful where as president it would be a miserable time for Cruz dealing with both parties filibustering everything he tries.

It would be stupid to put someone with no integrity in the VP slot

How about someone who cheated in their marriage, at least in one,if not two?

Before that Trump was claiming Cruz was constitutionally ineligible so I'd say the well had been poisoned long before Trump started with the name calling.

This is not an honest statement... The Washington Post asked Trump about democrat law suits filed against Cruz on eligibility... Then in that debate when a moderator NOT Trump asked Cruz about his eligibility problems, Cruz lied, like the Harvard Law schooled lawyer he is... Cruz NEVER answered the question, but he sure did know who else had eligibility questions... Then CRUZ symbolically speaking knifed Trump in the back by claiming that Trump too might have eligibility questions regarding Trump's mother...

That debate is what turned me against lying Ted. Ted NOT Trump or any other soul on God's green earth became that SNAKE.

All this talk of a weak VP is laughable.

Bush the elder and Dick Cheney had tons of clout when they were VP.

Of course then there is Biden the clown. :-)

Put Ted where he can use his strengths and that is Supreme Court.

How about in the Senate where he can block Trump's moderate and liberal policies?
